Hi guys,
Apologies already, I'm new to the site and I'm 99% I'm posting this in the wrong area, but I am NOT finding this site easy to navigate!
I've just downloaded the 'Working Sims Bed' package and have no idea how to install it. I've followed the links on the website to explain it, but they have not helped at all. I know how to access different folders on windows, but aside from that my computing knowledge is pretty awful. Can anybody talk me through an idiot's guide of how to install this mod, so I've got some base knowledge to work on?
Sorry again, I know this is a stupid question and in the wrong section, but I've read every guide I can find on this site and none of them are helping much!

Do you have the proper framework installed so you can have mods in your game? Unzip the file, copy the package over into your downloads folder (documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > mods > packages).

I'm guessing that's a 'no' - I've got documents-EA-Sims 3 but then there is no 'mods' folder. Is there a programme I need to install for this, or is it as simple as creating a new folder?

You might find this link helpful, you're missing the most important step if you want to download any custom content:

If you follow the instructions step by step in the Setup Folders & Files it should work fine. If you are having a problem with those instructions then you need to post in the Help section as to what you have done and where you are stuck.

Guys - thank you so much for your patience. I'm getting there, I have a working Mods folder! I'll keep you posted, but thank you for putting up with another idiot who doesn't know what he's doing!

- Ok, the Working Bed mod appears on the load up screen as having successfully been recognised by the programme. The problem now is that nothing appears to have happened. There are no new options on any beds, and no new bed to buy in game. Any ideas on what I've done wrong?

Welcome to MTS :)

Always start by reading the instructions on the mod's description carefully. In this case you seem to have missed a bit: "This mod is no longer a bed, but the orchid plant from decorative. It will add the bed interactions to all beds in the room."

Some help with site navigation:

- Questions about individual mods should go in the comments thread on that mod (or at the site where you got the mod from, if not here).

- Technical questions belong in the Help Q+A forum. That includes questions about how to install mods in general. We expect you to read the relevant FAQ first, so that forum is linked from the bottom of our Help FAQs, which can be found in the Help menu.

- For questions about MAKING mods/CC, you want the Create menu.

This forum is for gameplay discussion. Hopefully your issue is resolved, so leaving this where it is :)
