I like your technique using a brick foundation for most of the house, but the fence/mesh-like foundation for the porch. Clever :D

It works well for a starting family, even a growing one. There's room to place everything however I like to make the house truly fit the family's needs

What a lovely little house! It's a sensible size for just one Sim but still has room for a growing family without any major (or even minor) demolishing being involved - perfect for people like me, who detest building. And it has the perfect name, too! Bring on the childhood nostalgia.
