@coffeecore: Have you tried playing the game without all that custom content? You got tons of it. XD

The second crash from the bottom might be a DEP (Data Execution Prevention) crash. If you remove the custom content and get another crash like that one with <unknown module>, you may want to try disabling DEP by following these instructions:
http://www.simswiki.info/wiki.php?t....2C_Server_2003

@baby_freak_angel: Looks like I was right. Both crashes were most likely caused by running out of virtual memory but, for some reason, it didn't flag your first crash as an LAA crash. How it determines that is an imperfect science but anyway, I would recommend the same things I did earlier (upgrade the computer's RAM to 4 GiB, increase UserVA, and Force LAA).

FordGT - i did have the Force LAA for my game prior to the crash. After posting my crash report, i increased the UserVA. so far my game hadnt crashed yet. but then again i was away from my computer prior to the crash leaving the game open. ill see how long i can play tomarrow before a "Crash" happens. hopefully i dont need to add more Ram. i do have 3gigs.

On 32-bit operating systems like you have ("Processor Architecture: x86" is 32-bit), enabling LAA has no effect without also changing the UserVA. Another gig of RAM would certainly help. I assume you have UserVA set to 2560? That affords TS3 another 512 MiB of virtual memory to use. That should at least reduce the odds of getting another LAA crash. Keep an eye out for more LAA crashes though because that would be your sign that more RAM, and another increase in UserVA, is required.

That ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION is very concerning but if you have all the custom content removed, I don't know what could be causing it. You have only the base game and it is patched to current and there is plenty of virtual memory free. That really doesn't leave much to check.

Edit: Maybe a corrupted save?

If it was a corrupted save, shouldn't a re-install have fixed the problem? I don't know if it's a problem with my game or my computer. I have spent so much time trying to find a solution, it's so frustrating.

Have you had any blue screens of death or random restarts? Do games other than The Sims 3 work fine?

Yes, I have had a few blue screens. The only other game I have on here is The Sims 2, and it seems to work fine.

Blue screens almost always mean hardware fault or bad driver. If you haven't done so already, disable "automatically restart" on "system failure." When it BSODs again, note the message near the top. It is always on a line by itself and always in capital letters (e.g. MEMORY_MANAGEMENT). Also note the STOP code (e.g. 0x0000001A). Those give clues as to what component is failing in the computer.

Hi Ford

All previous crashes I've encountered I've managed to sort out but this one stumps me.
I only got Ambitions yesterday and installed it today.
Everything loads fine (old saves, CC the works), it plays perfectly until I have to place the firestation in the town. At which point it crashes to desktop no matter what.
I can place all the other lots that came with Ambition (salon/scrapyard etc) but not the firestation.
I could just not place it and carry on my merry way trying to forget that there's an entire career I'm missing out on, but I'd rather not.

Here's the crash report:

Processor Name: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz
Processor Architecture: x86
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GTS

Games Installed: The Sims™ 3 (1.15.34.008002), The Sims™ 3 World Adventures (2.10.5.008002), The Sims™ 3 Ambitions (4.3.4.008001)

I don't know if you can shed any light on this, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I always end up having a panic attack whenever a new expansion or patch comes out because I know that *something* is not going to work afterwards ¬_¬

Well, when it crashed, you were actually running TS3.exe (the basegame executable). Since the firestation is completely new to Ambitions, maybe running TS3EP02.exe (the Ambitions executable) would resolve it? That's worth a shot at least.

Maybe you could try Twinbrook as well. It should have a Fire Station already placed in it.

That'll teach me to run the game from the EA launcher. Can't even pick the right .exe ¬_¬
But strangely, everything else worked; all the new professions, going away to China with WA, even the other Ambition lots.

I'll give both a shot. I'll run the game direct from the TS3EP02.exe and see if that works first. Failing that I'll start a new family in Twinbrook

Ta ever so

The launcher screwed up on that? I didn't see that coming. Something somewhere must be borked then but I couldn't tell you what (not sure how the launcher decides what executable to run).

I've been noticing a trend that people with 2 GiB of RAM crash with quite a bit of Free Virtual Memory. The reason being: Windows and other programs are using that RAM.

I would suggest to Anonymous_2 to install 2 GiB more RAM (or get a new computer with 4 GiB of RAM), follow the instructions for the /3GB switch, and enable large address aware. Those crashes should go away.

You and me both. You'd think their own software would get it right wouldn't you? .... oh wait.... nevermind

Anyway, running direct from the TS3EP02.exe has allowed me to place the firestation with no trouble.
All in all, this has been the least painful expansion install of my Sim gaming career. Which isn't saying much

Thanks

I think you need more RAM. It says you have 1.25 GiB installed. Windows XP can use 0.8 GiB by itself which leaves less than 500 MiB to the game. The Sims 3 has been known to require over 2 GiB to run without crashing. You should have at least 3 GiB of RAM.

It happened, when I loaded my world, created in CAW, other worlds works good.
My world worked good, I made some families and saved game. And world is now bugged, I don't know, why. I used some custom content i lots.

Removing custom content would free up some memory but if you don't crash now, you'll crash later.

2.00 GiB - 1.32 GiB = 0.68 GiB used by The Sims 3
1.25 GiB installed - 0.68 GiB used by The Sims 3 = 0.57 GiB used by Windows and other processes

Windows is known to use ~0.80 GiB by itself and The Sims 3 is known to use in excess of 2.00 GiB by itself. You need at least 3 GiB installed but even 2 GiB is better than 1.25 GiB.

That's ridiculously low on both accounts. The world gets bugged because it is trying to load resources to memory that doesn't exist; hence, crash to the desktop. You need more RAM, badly.
