This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Running out of places to put your stuff? Bookshelves shouldn't be just for books. So I cleared off the Back2School Bookshelf and added 15 slots.

This is not a functioning bookcase, so it doesn't produce books and such. This is now a functioning bookcase. Each shelf has 3 slots; left, middle, and right.

It can be found in Surfaces/Storage and cost 200. Comes in four colors Comes in original bookshelf presets.

Updated 7-8-12:
  • updated to 1.34
  • is now a functioning bookcase

Updated 5-27-10:
  • Edited RSLT to allow larger items
  • allows the use of objects with interactions
  • fixed catalog description

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

I have already thanked you, but now I have a question: Is it just me or is the shelf very shiny, so that one can recolor ist, but the new color is not that dark... this never ocurred to me before, so I wondered.

I have downloaded one of these bookcases before and I was so dissapointed when I noticed that they weren't in .3package (The one with the plumbob as an Icon). Is there any place I can download this in that instead of the .package format? Thank you.

Same here. But in my game even the original item (the bookshelf) is very shiny. This is making it unusable for me, unfortunately.

Thank you Cmo !! It works perfectly in package form in my Ambitions game, by the way. I'm using the new Mods folder, too. No idea if that's relevant .

This is a great idea but I have a bit of a problem. When I installed this bookcase, it affected all the bookcases in my game. Those already placed are okay but if I place a new one, they have the books removed. After deleating this item, all the bookcases returned to normal.

EDIT:

I have redownloaded and reinstalled the file and all is well now. Some where along the line the first one must have gone pear shape on me.

Thanks for sharing

This is a great idea! However, I can't find where to get it. The only thing under storage are the normal bookshelves. Where is it supposed to be?

*edited* Ah, I'll try out the sims3pack version first :p

Ah, I still can't get it to work, or well, can't find it. Any ideas?

There's something weird with mine - it doesn't hold the aquarium. I've tested for other objects, and they work fine, but for the aquarium it doesn't :/

Edit: I've tried other shelves for it and none of them works (for this object), actually. Is this a common issue?
