Updated: 8th Apr 2008 at 8:21 PM - Flooded basements due to elevation of hood reported
This is the first hood I ever made and since it took so long to make I decided to share it with you. Feel free to redesign and use however you like as long as you don't upload it to a paysite. I used regular Sim City 4 to make it so you don't need any updates to sc4 to edit the file.

The hood is not entirely flat but the elevation along the streetgrid is not so steep that placing lots should make any major changes of the layout. I dislike totally flat hoods but with Freetime it's easy enough to add some hills and depths wherever you want. (Thats what I plan to do). I wanted the map to be re-usable for several hoods in the future so I stayed away from filling it with hills everywhere. There is however a big mountain ridge at the edge of the map.

I didn't place any trees with SC4 since I like to add that in Sims 2 instead.
The hood has plenty of room for beaches. I managed to squeeze in 17 beaches in my playtest. Note that there are some spots along the shoreline where no beach can fit but after hours of trying to make beaches work I'll gladly accept that.

If you don't have a cameramod you won't be able to use the entire hoods layout but the central part of the map I think is intricate enough to still be interesting. If you like symmetry though you are not going to like my street design since I didn't want a symmetrical hood.

To install place the sc4 file and all the png-files in SC4 terrain folder. For most user this will be found here: MyDocuments\EAGames\TheSims2\SC4Terrains

If you don't place the png-files in there you won't have any default pictures when you load the hood. It's still playable but when you select the hood you will see a strange gridlooking picture instead of the normal picture. It's purely cosmetic and won't hurt your gameplay.

A player reported that basements are not working in the hood since the elevation makes it so that they are flooded. I loaded up the game myself and tried a few spots without finding one that was flooded. But if you like to make basements you should be aware that some lots might not work with them. This is not something I was thinking about at all when making the hood since I never play with basements myself. If anyone know how to change elevation in the entire hood without starting from scratch and without messing up the beaches I'd appreciate any helpful advice on the issue.
