I'll have to give this a try! My personal fix since I got my widescreen monitor has generally been to play in windowed mode in a 1280x1024 window when intending to make heavy use of CAS.

I thought all you had to was adjust your screen resolution. It works for me at least. I've never had problem with CAS and I've always had a widescreen monitor.

This has always annoyed me no end. I like the detail on the highest resolution, and the icons blocking the sim are so annoying. Thank-you

It depends on the resolution you are using. The highest resolutions like 1600 x 1200 have this problem because the resolution is increased but they don't change the size of the menu. I ended up lowering the resolution so I could actually see my sims but now I can view at my preferred resolution again. Thanks!

For lower resolutions the widescreen part might not be a problem as the UI stuff will be off to the side... but my mod adds zooming so get it anyway!

Oh jeez, thanks so much- this is definitely one of the small, persistent annoyances of my life, fixed up pretty. ^___^

Thank you so much! I couldn't adjust my resolution because my game looks really weird and stretched to me on all but the highest res. It never even occurred to me that someone could fix it, so I was so excited to find this today. Thanks again!

Default installation
This will be great, but how do I install it correctly?

My bad, I forgot install instructions :P

In your /My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/ folder you will find a folder named Cameras. Replace the CASCamera.txt in that folder with the new one in the download. You probably want to back up the original first though.

Sounds nice! But i don't need it, my cas screen works without this issue in widescreen mode .

If I was able to use img-tags here, you would see my personal 275px × 42px signature...

Is this for 16:9 or 16:10 displays?

Wow Thank you so much! I just got a widescreen computer and the camera annoyed me so much...I had no idea what to do about it, either.

It should work for either, I made it on a 16:10 but it mainly changes the zoom angles which won't be too different on a 16:9.

Hmmm...my new laptop is a widescreen. I'll give this a try! I noticed when you adjust the game resolution, the screen tends to 'stretch'

thanks for sharing

Thank you. My screen resolution is 1400x900 and I am so tired of the tops of heads being chopped off in body shop. I am going to install this now. Thank you

If your pictures are unaltered, your actual screen resolution of 1024x576 is 16:9 (not 16:10)

Your physical screen resolution might be 16:10 (let me guess, the famous 1440x900?) but your in-game resolution is 16:9, which gives a larger image (proportionally speaking). If I'm right, you probably have slight black bars at top and bottom of the game, or your Sims appear slimmer than they should (they are stretched vertically).

I do have a 1440x900 screen (16:10), but the game only offers me 1280x768 (16:9.6) for WS. When comparing my screenshots with yours, I have slightly more place on the left of the box (the one where you enter Sim settings) and much less on the right. The default Maxis camera settings, while causing the Sim to be off-centered, does not cause it to be partially hidden as on your screenshots. In fact, I find that only pets (which your config file does not affect) are a problem on my CAS screens.

Therefore your camera settings do not work well for me.
