Picked Upload
Maxis Recolour
This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS2 - check the sidebar.
This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
The colors of the EAxis beds, especially the base game ones, really bug me. (Like that lilac-colored Asian one. WTF?) I still used them, but they bugged me, apparently enough to trigger a "squeaky wheel" effect. So I decided to go ahead and recolor some of them and thought I'd share. Yes, eventually there will be other bedroom-y stuff, like dressers and end tables and mirrors and such to match, but I haven't made 'em yet. (But hey, maybe someone else has.
) For now, you'll have to make do with just beds. We have:The Cheap Eaze Double Bed: You know, this one is actually quite pretty, in its simple, clean way, when it's got some nice colors on it. AND it's cheap. The "white" came out really distressed-looking on this one, but I kinda like it. And I shinied the little hardware thingies, too, because dull hardware is...Well, dull. Especially on dark wood. The Craftmeister Pine Single Bed...De-pined: This is the cheap-o single bed. It's nice that it's cheap and all, but the EAxis textures have far too obvious (IMO) knots and the colors are...Well, they're certainly unique. I think they were aiming to make this a kiddie bed, hence the kiddie pastels, but they just look...strange, IMO. However, the texture images are almost exactly the same as those for the Cheap Eaze bed, which I guess isn't surprising because it's the same bed only single-sized and without the rounded headboard. It's just that, in the texture images for this bed, the wood stuff has all those knots. So I cheated and simply used the same texture images I made for the Cheap Eaze bed on these. Looks much better, IMO, but since they now lack pine's signature knots, I can't in good conscience call these a "pine bed" anymore. But at least they're still cheap! The Courtly Sleeper Double Bed: Those are half the colors, obviously. A pic of the others is attached below because this darn bed is just too big to be able to fit all 12 colors on one pic. Anyway, I love me some uncanopied four-poster beds. I even like the Seasons ones, once they're de-weathered and deflowered (Heh.) But this one's for the basegame/non-Seasons-owning crowd. Once again, the EAxis textures are a bit...odd, so it required some messing around. In the end, these are simpler, but I kinda like it that way.The Touch of Teak Asian-Style Double Bed thing: Again, that's half the colors and the others are in an attached pic. And this is another bed with truly bizarro EAxis colors. Like the aforementioned purple. And...bright lime green? Yeah, because when I think Asian, I think bright lime green. Right. So, if you like/use this bed, hopefully you'll find these colors more useful. The Caress of Teak Single Bed: The pic for this one is attached below, because I can only put four pics on the post. And this one was kind of a pain in the butt. The textures "paint" weirdly onto the bed, and it took me a while to come up with something that I liked well enough that I'd actually use it, which generally involved simplifying everything without making it TOO simple. And that's it! There are a few other basegame beds that I didn't touch. I don't think I'll be bothering with them, unless someone yells at me for them, because I tend to like the EP and IKEA ones a lot better than the basegame ones that I left out. As usual, all the files are Compressorized and clearly named blah blah. I RARed each bed separately so you can pick and choose the one(s) you want. If you should want 'em all, you'll have to click five times, darlings. ![]() Enjoy! 428 people have said thanks to iCad for this download.
