This Chinese Martial Arts Major was created for mod the sims’ Multicultural Create Competition.

BACKGROUND

Chinese martial arts (or kung fu) has a very artistic fighting style. Many people who watch Chinese kung fu movies are probably not watching for the plot, but for the complex forms and body movements of actors/actresses during the fighting scenes.

For thousands of years Chinese respected those who had kung fu training as much as those who were scholars. It has long been a tough decision for parents to decide what should their children study, kung fu or literature. Very few people could master both simultaneously because each subject alone could take one’s whole life to master.

Within the world of Chinese martial arts, there are three mainstream kung fu styles—Shao Lin, Wu Dang, and Er Mei. Traditionally Shao Lin style is for boys, and Er Mei style is for girls. Wu Dang style has both genders with more boys than girls. Nowadays, you can find either gender in every style. Besides these three mainstream kung fu styles, there are dozens of obscure styles. One should not belittle the obscure styles because some of the most deadly attack techniques were from the obscure styles. Although all styles include unarmed strike (i.e. fight with bare hand only), Shao Lin’s monk unarmed strike is probably the most powerful one. In terms of melee weapon, long sword is the most popular used followed by spear, and staff is almost only used by Shao Lin monk. Of course, there are numerous other weapons of different sizes and shapes.

Once westerners developed the gun, kung fu was no longer the best defense mechanism for fighting invaders, thus the study of kung fu had a sharp decline in 1800’s; however, it never died out mainly because of its artistry. Today people train in kung fu to stay fit and athletic. A lot of westerners especially Americans are fascinated with Chinese martial arts. In the United States, Chinese martial arts schools can be found everywhere in big cities and small towns. Learning kung fu is still one of the main activities for many American born Chinese kids.

Recently I have had several uploads for mod the sims’ Multicultural Create Competition, my goal is to educate those who want to learn about Chinese culture, but Chinese culture is not complete without Chinese martial arts, this is why the Chinese Martial Arts Major came about. Your sims now can major in it at university.
________________________________

This Chinese Martial Art Major was cloned from the Literature Major, all class hours and skills are the same as the original one. Therefore, focus skills are charisma, body, creativity, and mechanical. Sims who graduated summa cum laude majoring in Chinese martial arts will have a boost in the entertainment career, slacker, criminal, showbiz, and may include some of the Seasons’ careers (I cannot tell you which ones because I don’t play Seasons). Obviously, you need the University EP to use this major.

This new major has its own GUID 0x90CA55E1, does not overwrite maxis’ majors, and has its own custom major icon (made by me). The Chinese symbol is the word for kung fu. As usual, sims cannot choose any custom major using a computer (if they can that means the original maxis major has been overwritten!). Sims can choose custom majors right on campus by using FrikaC’s Majors Made Easier mod (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=107858). Note: If you already have the InSimenator mod, you don't need FrikaC's mod, the InSimenator can do the same.

This major has been tested by sending 2 teen sims (that were raised from birth) from 2 different families to the Academie La Tour, everything was working properly, including satisfying aspiration wants with memories. My young adults successfully graduated with this Chinese Martial Arts Major without any problem. The game play was as smooth as it could be.

Thanks for viewing, enjoy, and happy simming.
