I'm curious about the note mentioning "shush interaction no longer used autonomously". I've literally NEVER seen a sim perform the action autonomously - which is just as well since the default baby care behaviour is atrocious and sims often walk away from crying babies after performing 4-5 interactions which fail to address the baby's needs (often they just bounce/coo/talk).
I was interested in this mod, but it seems overkill. TS4 babies only care about their hunger and hygiene needs, with social a distant third - far distant, because performing the interactions dealing with the first two also fulfill social, so you very rarely see a lonely baby, and even then it's mostly because of the bug you pointed out - a child would be hogging the baby's attention but a bug prevents its social need from going up. Btw I think children are bugged too, if they interact with a baby they will get stuck interacting with it until their own needs force them away or you use another sim to interact with them (I have my sim hang around townie households so I can't take control of the children directly - better imo since it lets me observe sim behaviour unimpeded by player input). Older sims are perfectly content to maybe bounce/coo/talk at a baby then wander off even while the baby is still crying.
Speaking of autonomous interaction, I've actually NOT seen sims autonomously interact with a baby unless it was crying. Maybe only in player households? The way I play is I create one sim, then have him visit townie households and hang around. This is how I see what I've seen. Since I started playing the game late last year, I've only bothered to have my own household family a couple times, then got bored because I control all the sims and can easily magically deal with their needs. I find it far more interesting to have my sim hang out in an unplayed townie household and watch them stumble about their lives. This is how I've noticed I never see babies being interacted with unless they were crying (even after I cheat build mode and put the baby bassinet literally in the middle of the living room which forces all the other sims in the household to walk past it all the time), and how I've never seen sims shush their babies. Never seen the "show off baby" interaction being performed autonomously either. Literally I've only seen sims use bounce (the most), change diaper, bottle feed/breast feed, coo, talk, and very rarely cuddle. I've NEVER seen them use rock, shush, make silly face, find out what's wrong (even if they have enough parenting skill, I have Itasan's "Show Sim Info" mod), show off baby, or age up (well, this last one is kinda expected). Btw shush and make silly face inflict a "baby distraction" buff(?) that temporarily prevents crying, which was why I assumed the game doesn't let sims autonomously do those actions since they'll prevent a baby from being taken care of (which also imo confirms that babies are ignored unless they cry).
Personally, I'd like a bugfix that solves the children getting stuck on baby thing, as well as smell reaction = automatically force a diaper change. In my experience that'd fix most of the crying unattended babies I've observed. And maybe don't walk away while the baby is still crying, it's possible the parent does a useless diaper change when the baby is still clean but crying because it's hungry, then while they bottle feed the baby it dirties its diaper, but the parent sim has "already" dealt with the diaper in that series of interactions so after feeding they walk away even as the baby is still crying. This mod sounds like it will take care all that, but it feels way overkill imo lol. I kinda like the current lackadaisical "eh, maybe i'll take care of it" style of sim parenting, except for the bugged bits.
