Minor Update - 12th Nov 2017

An attempt was made to fix the Transparency issues of the retail shelves post patch.

Compatible with Pets Patch PC - 1.36.99.1020 / Mac 1.36.99.1220

--- Added Russian Translations by ViolettaJevans
--- Canning Skill Tweaks to make the skill more balanced
--- Price Tweaks
--- Slots added to the Canning station - 29 small + 3 medium
--- Skill icon reduced in size ( The icon will not disappear at low settings any more )
--- The sim now eats preserve from the Jar with a spoon ( and not a fork )
--- New model for Poor Quality Preserve added



1. Introduction

I loved the Canning Station from Sims 3 and have been wanting to recreate it in sims 4 for quite some time. When I saw the poll for the eco Living SP, I knew this theme was not going to win because Laundry!!
Anyway so I took up my half finished stuff and finished it asap!

2. What does the mod do? Catalog Details

The Mod adds -

i) Canning station (To make various kinds of preserves)
Catalog Details -
Name - Canning Station
Price - 2000 Simoleons
Location - Appliances --- > Stove
Presets - 6 presets

ii) A new 10 level custom Canning Skill

iii) Retail GTW shelves - Comes in two sizes

Catalog Details -
Name - Canning Preserve Display / Canning Preserve Display - Medium Height
Price - 200/120 Simoleons
Location - Surfaces --- > Display
- Function --- > Retail
Presets - 10 presets
Slots - 24 small + 6 medium / 16 small + 6 medium


3. Interaction on the Canning Station

i) Make Jam ( Available from Canning Skill Level 0)
--- Requires 6 harvestables
--- Makes a Jar of Jam which is then put on a surface or into the inventory by the sim.
--- Gets a special Buff (This is my Jam!)

ii) Make Pickles (Available from Canning Skill Level 3)
--- Requires 6 harvestables
--- Makes a Jar of Pickles which is then put on a surface or into the inventory by the sim.
--- Gets a special Buff (Pickled Life!)

iii) Make Spreads (Available from Canning Skill Level 6)
--- Requires 6 harvestables
--- Makes a Jar of Spread which is then put on a surface or into the inventory by the sim.
--- Gets a special Buff (Spread The Love)

--- 3 Skill Books available from the bookshelf :---
i) Canning Skill Vol 1: To Can or Not to Can?
ii) Canning Skill Vol 2: Cantastic Fruits and Where to Can Them
iii) Canning Skill Vol 3: If I can can, I will can!

--- Skill can be gained by reading the skill books or by making Preserves
--- Different Skill levels unlock different Preserves

Details

--- Each Jar costs 120 simoleons. Price maybe modified according to skill level

--- Jar can be sold from Inventory/Retail Shelves/City Living Craft tables

--- Jars of preserves do not spoil

--- Jars are not found in the catalog but are searchable by the name of the preserve (If you want to grab them quickly)

Interaction on the Jars

i) Eat
--- Sim eats Jam/pickle/Spread directly from the jar with a fork
(Issue - The jar has the lid on while being eaten from. Also sometimes the empty jars shows prices. Please ignore and clean them up. No cheating and selling empty jars!)
--- Gets special moodlet
ii) Eat with Bread
--- The Jar is consumed and 6 plates of Bread with preserve appears in the inventory.
--- The plate of Bread with Jam/Pickle/spread can be eaten as normal food
--- The plate of Bread with Jam/Pickle/spread is toddler compatible
--- The plate of Bread with Jam/Pickle/spread can be packed into Lunch Sacks (Parenthood GP)
iii) Sell To Evil Corporation
--- Jar can be sold for a hefty profit
--- Sim gets Special buff

Basic Download and Install Instructions:
1. Download: Click the File tab to see the download link. Click the link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
Read the upload description for installation instructions. If nothing else is specified, do the following:
No Extraction Required (Script Mods):
1. Cut and paste the .zip file(s) into your Mods folder
  • Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
  • Windows Vista/7/8/8.1: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
Script mods need to be placed directly in \Mods or one level below that (e.g. \Mods\Scripts) – sub-folders nested any deeper won’t work.
Extraction Required (Everything Else):
1. Use WinRAR (Windows) to extract the .package file(s) from the .rar or .zip file(s).
2. Cut and paste the .package file(s) into your Mods folder

looks awesome but there are 5 files to pick from to download which one do I pick? Do I pick the most recent?

It depends on what you have in your game.

You need the first file, because that is the base mod.
The second file is for canning EA harvestables, this one you need also.
The third one is for canning custom harvestables (icemunmun has a lot of them!), if you don't have any custom harvestables, then you don't need this one.
The fourth one are retail shelves. They are additional.
The last one (Black Plate) is a must have for the snacks with the bread. Without this file they throw LEs, so better to download it.

Nope! When I select jam nothing happens! :< I will disable my mods half at a time and see if I can find whats happened.

I'm not sure why but the mod isn't showing up on my game. I don't know if there's another way to extract it but it looks like its all good to go. It just won't show up I'm quite sad. Please help.

You have Outdoor Retreat and your game is fully patched?
You have CC and Script Mods enabled?
You downloaded all parts of this mod you needed and unzipped them in your mods folder?
The canning mod shows up on the CC dialogue you get after loading the game?

Jevi I do have outdoor retreat and my game is fully up to date.
I do have them enabled and I downloaded all three parts that the creator said that I would need, (the first, second, and last). I saved them to my mod folder but I know usually rar files need to be extracted but it appears to be already extracted. It isn't showing up in my cc dialogue though so it is not showing up in my game. I'm not quite sure what is happening. I want this mod soooo bad.

while my 2 two sims were on holiday in granite falls the canning station flipped forward then flipped back into position while my sim was cooking. I do have custom foods in my game so i'm not sure if they caused it. i thought you might want to know

That happened to me too. Its acting like the oven opening but since it technically doesn't have an oven, the whole thing has to flip forward.

ive got an idea for a project the alchemy station from the sims 3 supernatural with a custom alchemy skill and converted potions like there were in the sims 3 there could also be custom harvestables and stuff im really missing alchemy in the sims 4

Thank you for the report. I am aware of the issue. this happens because the canning station belongs to the Object class Stove and sims attempt to cook on the station when other stoves are unavailable ( even though I removed most of the other stove functions and slots) .

Hi, first off, I love this mod. It's perfect for my world.
I have all Sims 4 packs, expansions, and stuff packs. I have also used this mod before C&D and never had any problems. I downloaded the updated C&D version and everything seems to work fine except for one thing. "Sell to evil corporation". It just doesn't come up as an option. My sim is level 4 and can make tons of stuff, just can't sell them. I do have all the files you offer for this mod. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Ah thanks for the report! I will look into it The C&D patch changed so many things that its highly possible i may have missed something

I do have a Alchemy project going on for quite some time but I have no immediate plans to complete it. It has become kind of a leisure project. But i will finish it up someday



It looks amazing i cant wait are there also potions to become a vampire or so it looks so great

Hi, so to get straight to the point, none of your mods work in my game. Its not that they don't work when I click on them, its that they don't show up in my game at all. Please help me solve this problem because I really want to use your mods.

Preserves is replacing cook in my clubs list in fact i can not see cook in the club list i got the new version.

Hi! just to be sure are you unpacking all the mods into the mods folder using winrar/winzip ? How deep are the mods placed ?
