Hide or Reveal Pet Quirks!

This mod requires Andrew and Orange Mittens's Playable Pets Mod, found here. (You wouldn't see any difference without it as it is needed to view your pets Simology panel. )

Changelog:

As the curious simmer that I am, when I first played with Andrew and Orange Mittens Playable Pets mod, I wanted to know what all those blank "Reward Traits" really were.

So I went about doing some quick research and messed around with some XML files, after which I finally figured out how to give those blank traits some names. I also went in and gave them icons, which I thought were appropriate.

After doing this, I decided that all this new information might be too much for some simmers, and I also created a version which will remove the blank traits completely, so that only the CAS traits will be shown for your pets.

Pet Quirks with Names

As seen above, this version names each Pet Quirk so that you can be better informed on what exactly your pet loves or fears.

Pet Quirks Hidden

This version completely removes the blank traits so that you can have a cleaner simpler Simology panel.

Make sure to only choose one version as there's no point in having both.

Enjoy!

Basic Download and Install Instructions:
1. Download: Click the File tab to see the download link. Click the link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
Read the upload description for installation instructions. If nothing else is specified, do the following:
No Extraction Required (Script Mods):
1. Cut and paste the .zip file(s) into your Mods folder
  • Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
  • Windows Vista/7/8/8.1: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
Script mods need to be placed directly in \Mods or one level below that (e.g. \Mods\Scripts) – sub-folders nested any deeper won’t work.
Extraction Required (Everything Else):
1. Use WinRAR (Windows) to extract the .package file(s) from the .rar or .zip file(s).
2. Cut and paste the .package file(s) into your Mods folder
  • Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
  • Windows Vista/7/8/8.1: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\

Need more information?
  • Anyone can use both .rar and .zip files easily! On Windows, use WinRAR.
  • If you don't have a Mods folder, just make one.
  • Mod still not working? Make sure you have script mods enabled

I love this mod so much, but I was wondering if you had any thoughts on maybe revealing what their moodlets are? Some of them do have text but most of them just say "Anxious +1" or something of that nature. I'm not a modder in the slightest but it would be nice if you were able to actually see what was going on. Lol. Thanks again!

I have been tempted to do this.

Not sure when I'll get around to it, I recently had computer problems and lost all my sims stuff. So my motivation has been low, but it's definitely something I'd like to do eventually if no one beats me to it.

Does that mean you're not going to be updating this mod for patches anymore?

I will do my best, if any patches break this mod. I was referring to adding an additional feature.

Hello there. I absolutely love this mod's concept, I feel it'd really complete my experience with the Cats and Dogs expansion but for the life of me I can't seem to get it to work. I've been agonizing over this for the past couple of days. I'm new to mods on the Sims but I'm no stranger to mods in general, and so far it seems that the process for installation of mods for the Sims is fairly simple, but no matter what I do or try I'm always just staring at a column of Llamas - no quirks. I've tried exporting to the mods folder, I've tried cutting and pasting, I've tried just moving the package file. I've stuck the whole compressed folder in the mods folder, I've put the package in a folder labeled 'Scripts' all to no avail. The only bit of progress made was in putting the whole zip in the Mods folder as at least then the game recognized it at start-up, but even then the mod's effects didn't seem to kick in. All just llamas. I've tried looking at created pets, vanilla pets, etc. No cigar. I figured maybe it was because of an update, but having just gotten my game up to date nothing's change and so I find myself reaching out on this fine site, having pretty much exhausted my troubleshooting capabilities. This is strange for me as it seems like such a straight-forward process and I haven't seen or heard of anyone else having any sort of problem with this, for all intents and purposes it seems a well-built mod.

Anyway, I really do absolutely love what you've done even if I can't enjoy it. It's these little details as well as bigger projects which make modding such an absolutely vital part of gaming at large.

I just checked in my own game, updated to the latest patch, and all the quirks show up.

The only thing I can think of, is you downloaded both of the mods on this page which conflict with each other as stated in my mod description. You need to download the spazmunki13PetQuirksWithNames.zip, extract it and put the package file into your mods folder.

My mod is an override so there's no script or anything else involved.

Hope that helps.

Would it be possible for you to add icons and names for all of the moddlets the pets get? And the needs? (It also seems like that there are 7 needs and hygiene and bowel seem to switch sometimes)

Does Pet Quirks Hidden remove blank quirks or just hide them?

It hides them, there are other mods that can be used to remove traits from your sims/pets.
