Buff Replacement Pack

I'm always unsatisfied for the lack of cooperation between lifespan and buffs' duration.
I'm confused that acquiring a new partner isn't that enjoyable when comparing to the joy from a nice conversation or hearing a joke.
I'm amused that sims forget how their spouse cheated on them in less than one day just like nothing happened.
I'm so tired of sims being sad for a long time after they mourn.

So here is the inspiration of this mod.

This is a pack of buffs' weights and duration rewritten for different Lifespan and gaming styles.

I was editing death witnessed buffs but they are more complicated. So I've decided to upload versions without them first.
And more buffs will be added to the editing list if I find their weights or duration are illogical.
Feel free to give any suggestions.

Only put ONE version you want in your mod file.

The list of buff changing is down below:

Version A --- Long Lifespan:
Designed for Long Lifespan or players who prefer stronger emotions towards life events.

Version B ---Normal Lifespan:
Designed for Normal Lifespan or players who prefer slightly stronger emotions towards life events.

Version C --- Short Lifespan:
Designed for Short Lifespan or players who prefer slightly lighter emotions towards life events.
This version has smaller duration compared to the other versions but it still has some increasing duration for events like being cheated on or marriage. Just to remind you.

Version D --- Super Long (Custom) Lifespan:
Designed for Long Custom Lifespan or players who prefer stronger emotions towards life events.

Tuning resources:

This mod is compatible with Have Some Personality Please!, Emotional Inertia, Variable Emotional Traits, Uncomfortable Overhaul, MC Command Center etc.

Known conflicts:
Any mod that modifies the same files listed above in Tuning Resources will likely conflict.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Basic Download and Install Instructions:
1. Download: Click the File tab to see the download link. Click the link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
Read the upload description for installation instructions. If nothing else is specified, do the following:
No Extraction Required (Script Mods):
1. Cut and paste the .zip file(s) into your Mods folder
  • Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
  • Windows Vista/7/8/8.1: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
Script mods need to be placed directly in \Mods or one level below that (e.g. \Mods\Scripts) – sub-folders nested any deeper won’t work.
Extraction Required (Everything Else):
1. Use WinRAR (Windows) to extract the .package file(s) from the .rar or .zip file(s).
2. Cut and paste the .package file(s) into your Mods folder
  • Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
  • Windows Vista/7/8/8.1: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\

Need more information?
  • Anyone can use both .rar and .zip files easily! On Windows, use WinRAR.
  • If you don't have a Mods folder, just make one.
  • Mod still not working? Make sure you have script mods enabled

I'm not really one for realism for my sims but the buffs definitely needed some work. Thanks so much for doing this!

Thank you! I'm using this with "Emotional Inertia," "No Happy Environment Buffs," and "Uncomfortable Overhaul" and now my sims' emotions matter. They can finally be negative once in a while.

I love it! Definitely overdue to have one like this, Sims 4 has long advertised the emotion aspect but your mod elevated it to a new level, thank you <3

I personally like "more realistic gaming style" but I would probably make an unrealistic one with all buffs' duration lowered down in the future. See if it would be useful for you! :P

Yes! I highly recommend people to use my mod with roBurky's! Just a little advice to use a no emotional death setting in MC Command or a separate mod if you prefer no death tragedy. Stronger emotions in this mod plus Emotional Inertia might make sims easier to get Very___(an emotion)___ than vanilla gameplay.

I hope that it can make their emotions more meaningful!

Great work! I always use the longest lifespan possible because, for some reason, I like using only 1 Sim at a time. This will make life more interesting, so I will be using the A version. Thanks!

Hiya! Is it safe to rename the file for the longest lifespan version? I tried to add it to my mods folder but for some reason my laptop is being a butt and saying the "filename is larger than the supported file system"

Thanks! I will make a super long (or should I say strong) version for it! Look forward to it! :P

Awesome work. I'm using this together with roBurky's mods and no emotional deaths as well and it makes a big difference. :) Especially since I like to play with a custom, even longer, lifespan and therefor it was even more ridiculous how quickly my Sims got over huge events.

Hi! This mod is a great idea! I play with long, custom lifespans and roBurky's mood mods, and this has been a great addition to making events count for more. Though I've been having a weird issue with lastExceptions whenever my Sims have WooHoo for the first time? I've done some testing and I think this mod might be causing the error.

Found a bug where I can't have kids. After female Sim tries for baby, option for pregnancy test doesn't come up. I moved all my mods then had a kid. Then added them all back. But the pregnant Sim glitched out. I added all my mods in batches to find it worked fine only without this mod.

I would check for it next week. I need to examine several files. Thanks for reporting bugs!
