View Full Version : Creating first Texture for a Mesh

I've noticed that some sites have just a mesh for download, include MTS2...

Sometimes those meshes include a "blank" texture to help you start creating. But sometimes not. When this happens, they clearly don't show in Body Shop, so you can't dump the texture bitmaps to create any. Meaning, I can't create a texture until one has been created.

The obvious answer is to search until you find one skin for a mesh, even if it sucks, and replace it.

But there must be some way to start this. Is there any way to just create a blank texture for a given mesh file to start with? Or is there not enough data in just a mesh to do that, making it more complicated than that? I realize this has probably been covered before, but I can't come up with a good search query.

Thanks.

They really shouldn't have -just- a mesh. If that's the case, you need to find recolours - ANY recolours. Doesn't matter if they're blank or look like a finished outfit... In order to get it showing in Body Shop, you need that.

It is technically possible to link a mesh to a recolour without having a premade recolour to start with - it's covered in the first Unimesh tutorial in the Body Shop Meshing area... but it doesn't work for everything. If the mesh is not named normally or has multiple parts, that just won't work.
