MTS2 Helpers Wanted! - Applications close Friday 12th September!

You may not be aware, but MTS2 is staffed with all unpaid volunteers. MTS2's staff is not paid for their work except in good feelings and hugs. This is not a job for us, but a hobby.

But because we are all unpaid volunteers means that we also have real lives outside of the site - families, day jobs, school, and other obligations. As much as we would love to spend 24 hours a day working on improving the site, we sometimes need to do other things like eat, sleep, and work, and spend time with our families.

Recently, many of our moderators have needed to spend more time on non-site related stuff like the above. While we still have enough staff to cover the basics like the moderation queue, checking reports, and dealing with issues, there are many other areas that we wish were more fleshed out, but need more warm bodies to help with.

We know that among a user base of so many thousands, with generally around 2500-3500 users online at any one time, there are probably many intelligent people who spend a lot of time on the site who may have the time and inclination to help out. So, we would like to see who may be available to give us a hand with certain things.

If all you do is download and are not really interested in helping, please do not reply to this thread. We are only looking for users who are established members who have skills that would be useful in helping out.

Please note that this is not an "apply to become MTS2 staff" thread! This is for a general helper thing, not staff. Users who are made MTS2 staff are those who have proven through their actions that they are helpful, active, and will fit in well with existing staff. You cannot apply to become MTS2 staff anywhere.

1. How long have you been a member at MTS2?: I've been a member since the 13th of April, 08, though my first account (which was a shared account) was made the 20th of Feb 2006.

2. How much time do you spend on MTS2, S2C, or Sims2Wiki per day? Per week?: I rarely go on Sims2Wiki, only a couple of times per week. I spend most of my life on S2C, (lol, just kidding!) more like about 2:30mins hours a day. I play for 1 hour in the morning and when I get home, I'm on from 3:00-4:30pm before I have to start work. For the MTS2, it's a bit less time. I usually play after I make supper for close to two hours. Per week, I spend close to 20 hours a week on S2C and MTS2. If you are looking for someone who spends 10 hours a day here(:wtf:), then I'm not your girl.

4. What areas of the sites do you frequent the most?: Recently I've been looking over tutorials, which are quite inspiring. The place I hang around most is defiantly the Create section.

5. What technical skills do you have, if any?: Meshing, I know how to make HTMLs (and how to use them of course), I actually make and design simple computer games. I don't know if this counts, but I'm excellent on hand-checking(is that the correct term?) files to see if there is viruses. I also know how to fix broken down web pages and how to compress the files on a web page too.

Are you an uploader, affiliated with, or staff for any other Sims 2 sites?: I always make stuff to upload at MTS2, but I end up keeping it to myself. I don't really know why. I visit GoS sometimes, but only if I got nothing to do. I'm really attached to the community forum. I'm not a staff for any site, but I do own my own website that people can join to post their own items.

7. What do you think is the main focus and purpose of MTS2? What is this site for?: The purpose of MTS2 is obviously the sims 2, but it was also made because it focuses on free content and the pleasure to upload or download items. The site is for pleasure of course and it makes a point that if a site as big as this can still run free on donations then why do other smaller sites have to be pay?

I find it great to share my creations with the community and get feedback to help me out in future creations. I don't download others lots as I build my own but I comment on them offering feedback and compliments.

Can mesh, texture, repository for the sims, primarily objects - build houses and interior decorate for the sims. Was only a few semesters shy of an art degree, so can do basic graphics design work [ was a sculpture major :) ], and have done a variety of html work, but its been a while - when notepad was the tool of choice.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I can be helpful, but I'm fillinf this out anyway because I'm willing if there's something I can do.

I joined in 2005. I've been on hiatus for a long time until recently. Now I'm a llurker mostly.
I spend an hour or so a day on MTS2 as a baseline, mostly studying things.
I live in California.
I spend a lot of time thinking about build items so that's what I look at. I've been reading a lot of tutorials for building and also for making things but I have made little headway to speak of. I am also made of 3D FAIL. But my most current failure is not failing to make a 3d program do anything but make a flat polygon, it's trying to figure out how to do bumpmaps for walls from reading the conversations between experts here.

edit: I just this minute found the tutorial that addresses bumpmaps on walls, so I think I will be able to shed some of that fail soon. Not this minute, I have other stuff I have to do.

Hey, this is where I can help. I'm a teacher and a writer. I could work with the experts who have been conversing on the technical threads to turn those discoveries into things people like me can understand. I'm not as dumb as my massive failures make me look. What I am is diffident to start a conversation. once one's going I can pick things up prety quick and put them together pretty nicely.

I used to hang out on the TSR board before I went on hiatus but I haven't taken up there again because there's only so many hjours in the day. I have rejoined N99. I like N99 because it seems to be mostly frequented by people like me -- who aren't experts but aren't afraid of expertise, who are interested in things and pretty bright. And then there's Inge Jones and CTNutmegger, who are wonderful.

I had uploaded a slew of walls for Sims1 at TSR in the old old days, and they looked okay to me at the trime, but now that I know a wall can have a bumpmap all the flat walls look ugly to me.

I kind of see MTS2 as a penny (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_University) university (http://www.santacruzpl.org/history/libsch/pennyu.shtml) " (with the penny being voluntary) for opensourcing a globally popular game. It seems to me there's exciting things going on both technically and socially with this. I remember when MTS2 first opened -- before Sims2 was released -- and how thrilling it was to read the first posts (I don't remember how long it was before I actually joined, though).

I'm in my fifties, a woman, and as I said, a teacher and a writer (sometimes journalism, sometimes fiction, mostly science fiction).

Um. I wear dark blue old-fashioned briefs. They're comfortable. I have some boyshorts. They give me a wedgie. Thongs are right out. Bikini bottoms have to be too tight in order to stay up.

And dark blue is because pastels are for Barbie and white is boring and I can't find any other nice colors in all-cotton briefs.

The site is for Modding, Helping, and Downloading. It is a Bustle of active fanatics of the game all working together. Across the MTS2 family, You have S2C - a Site focused on getting the most fun out of the game, along with Good people to meet and have a Good time with. The Wiki is quite literally AMAZING! :P It holds so much! It is like an Online Dictionary, Encyclopedia and that old Relative you always have that Knows everything oddly enough :D And all easily obtainable without much hassle :)

i only visit this site because all the others are not as good. i love how this site is totally free. its given so much that i have given back. i love the atmosphere here that i dont really want to go anywhere else.

i think the main purpose of this site is to provide extra stuff for sims 2 gamers at no expense. this is a free site that allows any sims 2 fan to have mods and extra utilities that the original game doesnt offer. i also think that this site was made for people who just want to talk sims (and just hang out with other sims 2 fans). also to ask if they need help and of course download all these unique custom content. their may different reasons or purposes of this site, but i dont want to know them if it doesnt involve helping others and sharing great ideas to better improve this community and game.

It's a place where creators can share thier content for the world and see how good (or bad) they are. It's a place for downloaders to come and make TS2 a better game and get inspiration from others to do something themselves. It's also a place for bad people to download content for free and put it on paysites and make everyone mad. :cry:

I believe that MTS2 is basically about getting good quality downloads for free. I think it is about improving upon your own creations, and sharing them within the Sims 2 community, and if they aren't that great, at least getting feedback to know what to improve upon. Most of all I think Mod the sims 2, is around, and was created for the sole purpose of making the sims 2 more enjoyable.

I have some basic HTML and web-design knowledge; admittedly it could use a bit of brushing up (but I also relearn fast). I also am quite familiar with in game cheats (including testing cheats), especially with the build mode cheats. I am fairly familiar with photoshop.
Although I know this is an English site, and this isn't really technical: I can also provide a rudimentary, if not decent, basic translations (for tutorials or pages, et cetera) for Japanese speakers; while I am confident, I have admittedly not tested my skills via translating technical game terms before or such. (I have four, going on five, courses of Japanese experience, equivalent of about five High-school Language courses or 1-2 (possibly barely making 3) years college experience.) (This is likely admittedly where I’d be the most help, if it was somehow required, given my only basic skills in other categories.)

The purpose of modthesims2.com , is to provide a place for people to share their work, and creations for free. Modthesims2 gives creators a sense of freedom on how long they can put off their work their doing (although some people might not like it :lol: ) and not like they have a gun to their head and being forced to create.


Modthesims2 is run by people who have experience within the site and/or creation.

I think the main focus is to enjoy, together, the Sims2, whether it be making new outfits, hairstyles, houses, etc. or modding the game to fit one's needs. Ideally modthesims2 is a cohesive, self-sustaining unit of people that love modding the sims2 to their hearts content, and want to get together and share their enthusiasm. Sometimes it doesn't work out; for example, I'm sure a site of this size is extremely hard to take care of, let alone make better and better for it's members. But we're here to help out!

The LebenSim site currently has many affiliations of whom I set up several with. I Mainly upload houses as I love to build but I am now doing object recolours which is going well :D

I view as it an area for people to upload their custom content beyond that of the realms of the Exchange, it allows for free expression and is not only a great learning environment but a great area to share your knowledge with others too. It is a social site that many thousands of people enjoy, where the Sims 2 becomes more than just a game, it becomes a social hive of buzzing and enthusiatic members :blink:

Back in the day--if I am not mistaken--MTS2 was known for its free hacked objects and mods. Many well known sites were going pay and MTS2 refused to go pay. Oh the drama! Today I feel it is still a great place for some of the best mods but also a great place for pre-made character sims and beautiful quality hair/makeup. Best of all it is still free.

1 - I have been on this site for 1 year and a half, but only registered about a year ago when I finally got the courage to build.

2 - Over all, I spend anywhere from a half an hour to an hour and a half on mod the sims a day, uploading, talking in the chat room, or looking at other creations. Honestly though i RARELY go to S2C, but i frequent the wiki when i need tutorials or just want to learn something new.

3 - I live around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvaina (USA).

4 - The sections of the site that I go into the most are downloads > Lots and MTS2 top items. I love seeing what other people come up with and watching the reactions that the users take when they see the content.

7 - I think that mod the sims 2 is a site that is made for people who want to show the skills and talent with what they made in this game. Builders get to show off their masterpieces, clothing designers get to show off their awesome new meshes and you get to have a great time while doing so. I think the main focus of MTS2 is to provide free downloads for the Community. As well as tutorials and other things that help inspire people, to contribute to this site and other sites that are related to the sims. I feel that MTS2 set the bar and has set standards that are admired by the community as a whole.

I'm a moderate level package creator and have some knowlege of game modifications. I am very educated in how to work with Adobe Photoshop, a very eliquent writer, and I am a very fast learner. I'm good with people and I rarely complain.

I frequent Echo's site, hopeful that she will add some tidbit of info on object creation, and I am a member of SimsSafe2. I was a resident creator for The Sims Mod Board, but that site closed it's doors.

I've always observed this site as a forum for new creators to share their work, seasoned creators to improve their work, and master creators to help others with their work. It is an easy to use site for those that are just looking for objects and a good way to connect with others that share a love for the game.

I am an ITS professional (Day job). I work on a Help Desk supporting the University's faculty, staff and student questions about/problems with various Windows platforms and for any type of software they might use. We are expected to know, or find out the answer to just about anything they can come up with even if we've never dealt with it before. :lol: I also work on technical documentation for the university geared toward helping novice users. I also create web pages - HTML & CSS.

Sims2 skills - I am in the process of honing my meshing skills for clothing, accessories and Objects. I also build and use cheats extensively when building.
