I've been searching the site for help with this, but I'm not having much luck.
I just began installing custom content for my game today. I only installed a couple hair styles and outfits, and a set of piercings.. I deleted one hairstyle which I thought was making it slow, for some reason.. but after restarting the game it is still running slow.. Is it possibly one of the things I've recently installed, does downloading custom content often make the game run slower? I'm very new to this and not quite sure how all of this works..
Any help would be appreciated!

it might not be the cc at all, if you have a program, such as avg and its running a virus scan in the background it slows down the game immensely.... also it depends where you got the cc from, try going to trusted sources like peggyzone, mod the sims or other big cc websites cuz the ones that are not made properly glitch the game..... im actually having trouble of my own, where my custom content is causing the game to crash, problem is, i dont know which file is the one messing me up, ive got alot of cc...

There is a very simple process for this. How people do not get this blows my mind.

If the game works BEFORE doing something, and doesn't work AFTER doing something, there is a 99.9999% chance that that is the problem.

Likewise, if you THINK it's your mods, remove them and test.

Moved from Discussion to Help. Lolita, I suggest taking a look at this very long thread: Package files and WA slowdown (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=37908). (Even if you don't have WA installed, it also affects base games patched past 1.4.x.) Around page 11 (post #256), Delphy gives instructions on using a utility called Process Monitor to identify cc that is draining resources from the game.

Thanks so much everyone! I will check out the thread, mangaroo. But I think I figured out what the problem was...and it was extremely stupid on my part. One of the packages I used was for the sims 2, I took it out and now its running like normal... ugh I feel so stupid- but I'm new at this and trying!
Thanks again everyone!

Yep, essentially that's a big part of the issue in the thread - you'd be surprised how many people have Sims 2 content in there. ;)
