Cant select game from new patch in reinstalled Sims

I have reinstalled my game because I wanted only patch 1.7.9. My sims were crated in patch 1.8.2. I have moved the backuped save floder files into my new save folder. Sims loads fine but I can not select my old game. It does appear to be there, just heavily faded-out as to indicate its non-selectability (and, indeed, I can't select it). Anyone know what I have done wrong?

Well, that might be it then. I'll just have to start over I guess ^^

It's entirely possible that saves aren't entirely backwards compatible, and this sounds like the most likely issue here. Generally if there's something actually wrong, you get an error or a crash.
