I must be out of my mind or just really badly bored, because about two weeks ago I started to make my own custom neighborhood.

Working title is Clover Island, though there is also some mainland. My neighborhood have some scandinavian influences, since I'm scandinavian.

This area is meant to be residential district for a little bit bigger houses and lots.

This island is the old town, and I was planning to build there mostly small houses, rowhouses and shops. And some parks also. Many lots are very small, as I like them more nowadays than huge ones. And old towns did not have so big city blocks. Because my naighborhood lives present period, there is some mixing in my neighborhood. Some old but renovated and then also contemporary.

This is area, that used to be industrial area, and now old factories have been transformed to apartments and shops.

I need all feedback, but especially with commercial areas. I'm sooo stuck. I can't figure out, how many and what kind of shops I really need to build. Some lots are ready, but many of those in picture are still unfinished. I will add some more pictures soon.

Edit: There is no custom content, but I do have all expansion and stuff packs.

I love that brownstone house with the garden on the roof!

I like the lay out of your neighborhood. You should have a couple of places for sims to hang out. You've already mentioned parks, so a gaming store for electronics cell phones & etc, one for clothing, grocery stores aren't really necessary, but it adds a nice touch, swimming pool, maybe a local gym and skating rink perhaps?

Thanks for tips! I play usually only on my lot, hardly ever visiting community lots, so I stink as a community designer :)

Houston, we have a problem!

I can't place lots to this area. I moved that old factory next to watertanks and now I can't use that street anymore.

I marked areas I can or can not build to that picture, and I hope, that you enjoy of my artistic skills ;) I moved all neighborhood decorations away, but still can't move any lot to that street. My lots are flat or at least near flat, and even the factory that used to be there, won't go there anymore.

North-East Corner: There might not be enough room between the placed lot and the road for the second lot. If it was me, I'd save first, then (using the picture as orientation) moving the far northern lot a little farther north (or just elsewhere for the moment) then try to place the second lot in that North-East corner. If your lot goes in, then try to put the upper one back in.

If it doesn't go in..... I can only suggest checking to make sure you haven't missed any decorations, like trees or groundcover.

The lot in the South-East corner: It looks like maybe that bridge might be too close to place a lot there.
