how to add elevator without apartment life, open 4 bizness, etc.

Hey MTS, i have been a sims fan since i could walk almost, and by the grace of god, i just purchased sims 2 double deluxe (copy got stolen a few years back). for those who dnt know, double deluxe came with sims 2, nitelife and celebration stuff. After a while, i started downloading apartments to add to my neighborhoods. now, there is an apartment building that is really nice, and i have done the "changeLotZoning apartmentbase" cheat (it worked). Problem is, my sims cant move into their apartments because when i downloaded the apartments, the elevators were not included! Someone please tell me how to get the elevators on my sims without the expansion packs purchase, OR give me a short cut that will allow my sims to have access to the upper floors in order to get into their apartments.

p.s. i also heard that their were special doors needed in order to classify each room as an apartment, is this true, if so, could someone please post a link to the download page for these. thanks again :lol:

How can you have apartments without the Apartment Life Expansion Pack? The special doors (and apartment-related functionality) are included with the Apartment Life Expansion Pack. There is nothing to download, unless you are buying the game from the EA Store online. Even without Apartment Life, you can build several little houses on the same lot and think of them as being apartments. But, they would not actually be the same as apartments you would be able to have in Apartment Life. :wtf: It sounds like you don't have the right game requirements for that lot, which would explain any crashing.

All that aside, you could fake elevators with these (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=97172), though.

Okay MSD thanks so much for replying to my mssg first of all and secondly, what i mean is, i downloaded an apartment from MTS, and set it as a lot on my sims 2 hood, i went into the lot and did the "changeLotZoning apartmentbase" (or whatever the cheat is) and changed it to an apartment, and it ALLOWED me to move tenants into my apartment building, and it has crashed VERY rarely (maybe 3 or 4 count). Furthermore all furniture was fully functional and the sims treated each floor as an apartment (as it should be if im not mistaken), i just needed the doors i have heard about and i know there are elevators because the building has a big 4x4 or 6x4 wall piece set up in the front of it. but all that aside, thank you for replying, thank you for your input, and thank you for the fake elevator download ;)

I dont see how it can possibly work as apartments without apartment life, thats why you have apartment life, to be able to use apartments. When you are in the neighbourhood screen what price shows up for the lot? and if you want to use the floor where the elevator would go just put a stairwell in there a spiral staircase would fit nicely in the space where a lift would go. :)
