Ok so I build a row house that act like an apartment. I follow the guide on Sims Wiki and thought everything was perfect but when I went to play, my sim did not want to enter the apartment. She would act like the doors was not routable or like something was in her way.
Few Detail about my apart:
-It has a callbox and apartment mailbox
-Has garbage shutes
-Built on a Foundation
-Has 3 apartment doors with 1 being my sims front door 1 being an entrance to other apartment doors and 1 being an apartment door.
-I Think I set all rooms to hidden/public
-Set all apartment doors for NPCs
-Apartments have an enclosed backyard.
What did I miss. I will post Pictures later to give a better detail.
Also please excuse me if I post in wrong thread I do not post much on MTS so I am kinda a noob.

This is a right forum for a question like that, so don't worry about that :)
Post the pics and we might be able to help you more.
One question I do have though. As I take everything very literally usually... You say you set ALL apartment doors for NPC's. Did you set the door meant for playable sims to NPC door too? Cause in that case the playable sims have no where to live and will stomp feet.

I had that problem too. I had made high rise apartments for my sims to replace the skyscrapers of Bridgeport. The apartment building has 3-5 apartments per floor, two elevators, and a front and back entrance.
In my cc/modded game (with extremely limited cc and mods), the three renters only had the option to ring the bell of their apartment door. They would drop all actions that involved going inside.
I tried deleting the back door, reassigning the front door, and deleting the door to the apartment to swap it for a new one. I couldn't get the Sims inside and only got the "ring bell" option.
So I created a new user and exported the problem apartment with roomies. I then changed user to "guest" where no cc or mods exist. After downloading the exported file and installing it with the launcher, I still had the same problem. However, as soon as I used the cntl/shift/c testingcheatsenabled true, buydebug on, and restrictedbuildbuyinbuildings on codes, I deleted the apartment door and replaced it with a door from inside the apartment that had the lock option.
Obviously, one of my mods or cc conflicts or it's just Sims 3 being tempermental. Anyway, I hope that helps.

Ciane, looks to me your doors work just fine. You are not suppose to get inside the NPC apartments, you can just ring the bells and ask them out.

You don't understand. The door to the active sims' apartment said "ring bell" instead of "lock" for an option. The sims could happily run all over Bridgeport and "return home" to the apartment building, but they couldn't enter their apartment. I couldn't get the apartment door deleted and replaced as the game would go into a never-ending loop (like a saving circle) whenever I tried to place a new door to their apartment.
However, when I exported the troubled apartment complete with sims and downloaded and installed it to a new user "guest" account which has no cc or mods, I was able to fix the door by deleting the faulty one and using the eyedropper to copy a door from within the apartment to be the entrance door to the apartment. (I did evict the sims before attempting to fix the door in the new user game, and I didn't encounter the never-ending loop circle.)
Update: I exported the working apartment from my "no cc"/"guest" account and uploaded via launcher to my modded "ciane" account. I removed all non-EA doors from my mods/packages/build/doors folder first. Then I installed the apartment building with the Sims waiting outside. They can now get in the apartment.
So, I'll blame the problem on having the cc doors, even though I wasn't using any cc door.
