I've been working on a custom career for a challenge. I don't usually create CC, so I've come here for advice.

The challenge itself is:
Sims 2 Homeless Challenge (http://www.forums.boolprop.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=47610&p=1356141#p1352601)

I made a custom career for it because I needed a career that would involve very long hours and very little pay. The career at the moment has been pretty thoroughly tested and has all chance cards working, as well as outfits and carpool. I've playtested the challenge, and that is also working pretty well, though it's about as difficult as an Adult Start apocalypse. (As it should be.)

However, I can't figure out how to change the career icon--at this point it's got a white background--and I don't know what to do to make it eligible for uploading here. I would like to upload it to MTS rather than just a random upload site...

Can somebody who knows about careers give me some advice here? I don't want to submit something buggy or just get it rejected for not meeting specs.

If you still have problems with Cutom Careers just search the Tutorials for Custom Careers forum :)

I think I'm a bit dense--I just can't figure out the transparency thing. I can make the icon just fine, but I can't get it to have a transparent background--I always end up with white. I'm using GIMP. Is there a specific tutorial somewhere?

Yea, you have to save the file as a .png but in the software itself, there should be an option to erase background image or something similar. What you want to do is duplicate you layer and delete your first layer. Then, you can erase the white. Then you save it as a .png file. Sorry it I am a bit unclear, but I use photoshop, but I figured that gimp works pretty much the same.

When you make a new image (file->new), click Advanced Options on the pop up. Under Fill With: chose Transperency.

The other way to do it is to make a new layer and chose Transparency under Layer Fill Type.

Both of those ways will give you an instant transparent background to work on :)
