Ok, so, I got a hairstyle from RoseSims, and when I checked it out, it has a texture file with dimensions 1024 x 512. So, I thought I'd try that with one of my clothing files, but every time I try, the texture just gets all black. This doesn't occur for the RoseSims hair. Now, I've heard that Bodyshop can only deal with square images, but if that's so, then why does the RoseSims hair have one that is rectangular? Does the square thing not apply to hair? Also, what's the largest size that Bodyshop can support (because I don't know if 2048 x 1024 is too big)?

Note: I've been using the Nvidia DDS utilities to import the texture into SimPE, with the DXT3 option. So that's not the problem.

As far as I know, skin and Sims textures must be square (1024X1024 or 2048X2048); Other textures '(object, hair?) must be of a power of 2,
thus can be rectangular.
Of course, the bigger the texture, the better the definition, but it also means bigger file and extra strain on the computer => slow game.
Resizing a small texture into a big one won't add anything to the look, it will only slow down your game.

Okay, that helps. I just tested a hair file to see if it would support rectangular textures, and it does. So, it seems clothing textures have to be square. Alright, thanks! :D
