So I have been recoloring like mad lately and I run into this problem a lot and it makes me sad. Its like the other texture is showing through my new one and it ruins the piece. What do I do to make it go away? The texture is just supposed to be the blue dress with ruffles but now it has those wrinkles when I refresh in bodyshop

You'll need to edit the bump map for it too - it'll be in the same folder as the textures, and look like a black/white/grey texture with similar contours to the wrinkles you're seeing. You can either just make it bucket fill grey to remove the bump map entirely, or add details to it to make it fit your new texture. See here: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=268418
