View Full Version : Installing Custom Houses-How to make them fit the lot correctly

Hi there-

I install a lot of Plasticbox's custom houses for the Sims 3, and I always run into the same problem. The screenshots show a house that's right up against the sidewalk, with the pathway connected to the road, but when I put the house into my game, it's always far away from the sidewalk, in the middle of the lot. It looks awkward there-I have a huge amount of free space in front of and on all sides of the house, and the plants/walkways/driveways that are supposed to be close to the sidewalk are in the middle of the lot.

Can anyone help me position them correctly? I'm not sure if I'm not installing them correctly, or if there's a way to shift the house on the lot while in the game.

Thanks!!

Are you putting the lots on the same lot size they were created on?

If you put a 20x20 on a 40x40 then you are going to get space on all sides because the game centers the lot by default.

Plasticbox's Wee Barnoid series is mostly on small lots so if those are the ones you are using and you put them on bigger lots there's nothing you can do to prevent them from being centered.

I'm putting them on the smallest lots I have in my neighborhood, they should work fine. I think?

They have to be placed on a lot of the size they were built for, or you're going to end up with a border around them. No way around that. Check back on the thread you downloaded them from, see what lot size they're built for, then place them on a lot of that exact size, no bigger.
