I was just going through my computer and making zip files of old files, including my sims files, and I thought there should be a download all button on our download page, for if something ever happened and I lost all my downloads. Or even a way for us to select multiple previous downloads to re-download all at once.

I think I may speak for most if not all computers when I say it is a good thing that there isn't a download all. My poor little computer doesn't really like all the CC I have now. If I could download it all with a lick of a button I am sure my computer would come to life and kill me in my sleep for trying to make it process all the downloads. Besides, I don't think it is a good idea to give that possability to a CC junkie...lol. But all the negative side effects aside, oh the fun that could be had...

Ah...ok. My bad. Sorry about that. That would be a good idea then.

This would be a useful feature, but I don't think the website would be able to handle it. Think about the bandwidth it would use. There are 2,468 people online at the time of this posting. Suppose each of them downloads multiple gigabytes of cc. If all 2,468 people decided to re-download all of this cc at the same time, the website would somehow have to supply several gigabytes per second of bandwidth, probably more.

In essence, the website would be under an unintentional distributed denial of service attack, and would likely crash and become unaccessable. Delphy doesn't need that to happen. I'm sure he is busy enough as it is.

Tech talk to English translation: It would be useful, but cannot practically happen.

Well, we wouldn't transfer a few hundred files at a time to a user, we'd just make them wait six hours while they downloaded the files three at a time. Pretty much like now. ;)

I don't think mod makers, or others who have mutually exclusive different versions of their files available in one thread, would thank us, though.

Better to keep a backup or two of all your CC on an external hard drive. ;)

^ This. Thumbdrives are ridiculously helpful and ridiculously inexpensive.

The last time i tried to back up my files on a thumb drive everything somehow was erased or corrupted. I only backup on disks now!

Thumb drives can be a bit unreliable, which is why I vastly prefer my external hard drive now. The hard drive also transfers files a whole lot more quickly.

It doesn't hurt to have multiple backups, especially of stuff that you really like.

I use to use reuseable disks but then my CD burner stopped being able to earase although it still plays. Now I have the external hard dive. Don't use the software that comes with them. I did at first but couldn't tell for sure what was being saved. So I did a restore to different point and got a surprise. It did not save everything I wanted saved. So now I do it manually,
