ok. im hoping someoen can get the house started for me. or in the very least, give me some "n00bish" tips on how to get past the advanced part in this.

basically, im trying to do my own house here. problem is that there are 2 places in the house where ill need split level stairs. one section is at the back door (which is on the side of the house) where at ground level there are stairs that go into the basement. at that same area, there are stairs that go up into the kitchen in which the whole first floor is off the ground by the height of a deck.

the second area is the stairs going up to the second floor. their is a landing halfway up. the half bit of stairs going up is right above the stairs going down to the basement as mentioned before. once up to the landing, turn around and the second half of the stairs goes up above the stairs going from the back door into the kitchen.

beyond that it should be a very simple build. only thing that my get in the way is that the front porch will need to use a deck and the basement will probably butt up right against the deck.

ill try my hardest to get some pictures or diagarams up to help out. i have tried the tutorials at mikeinside and i couldnt get it to work. i think the last place i left off was where i couldnt get the stairs into the basement and kitchen from the back door.

as i said in my OP, i already went there but couldnt get the multilevel stairs to work completely. i might have missed a step or two, but i have tried over and over and couldnt get it to work.

So, have also checked out the tutorials in this thread?

I believe there're already some useful tutorials there that may help.

Building such type of house, you'll have to estimate how many levels you're using and building. "split levels" result from compressed versions of 2 "floors". The same is true for split stairs.

One more tip, pay attention on how Raphael does his stairs. N, you'll find easy ways to archive what you're looking for.

well, i found out i was doing the split levels correctly, but here are the problems im running into:

using a foundation in the basement and lowering it to ground level results in the surround terrain being slanted in to meet the lower part of the terrain. trying to connect the next floor to the terrain is futile.

havent tried oing simply walls in the basement, but i would assume the same would happen as above.

also, using the deck for thr front porch doesnt work cuz it seems to link itself to the adjoining foundation and thus one side of the deck slants in to the basement. i found that i am able to do foundation in place of the deck and get it to link to the second floor.

for the basement, raising the terrain from the basement by multiples of 4 to make split stairs or lowering with modular stair while building a basement is the easiest way unless you decide to make your split stair to the basement the way you do for floors above ground. In that case, you'll have to make your basement as if it's a 2-floor deep basement only that the height of the resultant height is 1 floor deep basement. Then, you may need the 2 floor deep basement tutorials or find your way out.

updates:

A deck or foundation is regarded as a level in the game, just like walls. Due to a 4-clicks difference between every level set by TS2 engine, "using a foundation in the basement and lowering it to ground level results in the surround terrain being slanted in to meet the lower part of the terrain" results.
keep this in mind, walls/foundations on a level has to match with those on the same level defaultly set by the TS2 engine.

So, compression of 2 levels into a floor is necessary.

I suggest to keep your foundation/decks above ground, instead of lowering them, you may want to use quarter wall (same height as the default one for deck/foundation on ground) to connect them to the deck. So, the quarter wall and the deck will be on the same height until the parts that connect to the door are back to a floor height ("16 clicks" in units of terrain tools)' Of course, above the door, there is the next level compressed to quarter walls corresponding/complimentary to the quarter walls on the ground. so, it takes a compression of 2 levels to form the ground floor.

hope this helps.
