Default Will the Sims 4 have better graphics and speed?YES OR NO?
Well all I am trying to say here is that the sims 3 dissapointed a few simmers....because the sims 3 was horrifyingly slow and graphics were a 50-50 u know?!
Now we hear there's a Sims 4! Will it have a better speed and better graphics for a real experience in the end.... we cannot decide. Share your opinions maybe EA will listen to your thoughts?
I would like to mention that the sims 3 had been a launched/released about 4-5 years after the sims 2 ( though it was not a great hit) this time its i guess 3-4 years . Don't you think it's a little early to bring any good ?!!!
share your opinions with mod the sims and me!!

It has to offer better graphics and performance there is no doubt. I hope EA doesn't disappoint in that area.
I wouldn't say graphics in Sims 3 was horryfying. The only thing that looked off in, my opinion, were the sims.

Hrm. The sims don't look too uncanny valley-ish from what we've seen (the eye preview). I know it's not an official shot, but if those are their actual eyes then I think we might be okay.

Agreeing with toxicboy in that the sims themselves looked the most off. There were other things that irked me, but the sims gave off a creep-esque vibe (at least to me) if they didn't have a bunch of cc and some new eyes.

No. When they said they're going back to to Sims 1, they meant it in terms of graphics. PIXELS

We'd have a SERIOUS problem if a sequel's graphics aren't on par with or better than its predecessor so I think we're safe in regards to that. EA does some stupid things but they aren't THAT stupid. What worries me is how it was announced less than a year before its release. I'm not sure why but that makes me think we're gonna see a lot of recycled TS3 stuff. Including graphics.

I think, judging from what I've seen in the rough concepts, the models themselves are going to be more cartoonish and simple, which is kind of disappointing. I'm hoping at least that a more sophisticated graphics engine can compensate for that.

A whole lot of stuff in the Sims 3 was basically recycled from the Sims 2. Why spend any effort and money making new assets when you have all the old ones right by your side?

It will probably demand a higher system hardware setup that's for sure....

As for how the SIMs will actually look.... who knows for now.

But based on these eye shots....

The developers "might" go back to the SIMs 2 cartoony style artwork. And I for one am all for it.... I really don't want "very realistic" looking SIMs because I really don't want the game to give me the urge to fap.... if you know what I mean.....

No one here can really answer that question, since we have very little information about the game at all. I am amazed at the sheer amount of threads made for the game already, when all we have is a few pictures of eyeballs and a release date. And it is all pure speculation at this point. We don't know what hardware requirements it will have, nor what features will be include in the base game, or what packs will be released for it. Speculate to your hearts content, but without more concrete info than we have been given, it's hard to make sweeping statements regarding the game.

I have personally thought that sims 3 graphics on sims where like that desides from screenshots of post production I found it looks more like sims 1 at the moment.

I think that it'd be easier for them to go into the cartoony style -- mainly because it's easier to make and animate, but also because it seems to be more of a trend to make realistic stuff than it is to make cartoony stuff (in regards to mods/default replacements/etc.).

However, I think (big emphasis on THINK) that we're going to go forwards in regards to graphics. Going backwards doesn't seem to be EA's style, and it'd be a bad move regardless, because there's the chance that it might make people leave. And people leaving = less sales, as most of us know.

Also, I like their eyes, which is possibly the best thing I could have hoped for from an eye preview. The TS2 basegame eyes were bland, and the TS3 eyes creeped me out, but if we stuck with these, I'd be just fine. They remind me of my TS2 defaults. Personal preference, though. Then again - we haven't seen blue, grey, alien, or any other eye color besides brown and green. I'm guessing that these are merely photoshopped renders or something, due to the positioning of the little white glint on the guy's eyes (they're facing the opposite way than the other girl's brown eyes). However, it would seem that his eyes are similar otherwise. But the positioning of the white glint intrigues me. Wonder what it means.

Ugh. This is what happens when they give us ONE screenshot to last us two months. I'm going to go crazy trying (and failing) to over-analyze every little thing I see.

Also, I'm pretty sure that those aren't the final eyebrows, and that what we're seeing isn't the final hair. They'll probably glamour it up several months before release.

Why not realistic?!! It will be awesome!!!!!!!! I mean like it's just like you're controlling the world . It'll make you feel like a GOD!!
And if(Emphasizing on IF ) there are graphics that are superly totally realistic you can actually make some one you know better than the sims 3.

And that WOULD really make me wanna fap :P

Ever seen the complexity of graphics in current gen console games? For example how realistically sensual Lara Croft looks nowadays compared to how she once looked back in the Playstation (1) days where her "endowments" looked just like a bar of Toblerone?

Too realistic = too uncomfortable.

RFE: Addendum:

And with sites like sexysims overly realistic SIMs would definitely go beyond the "Teen" rating.

Eh, if people can be turned on by Lara Croft and her "Toblerones" as you said, I think cartoony sim would't be any different...

QFT....

After all we do have Bronies who get off by watching "My Little Pony".... But I'm not in that crowd. So yeah, less realistic is better because I won't get "turned on" by it.

1. Graphics and speed have nothing to do with the game or ea. Its your computer. My computer can max it out perfectly, with no lags. Its the players fault for those problems.

2. The sims 4 is a next gen game, meaning, it will likely have really nice graphics compared to previous.

OK. I respect all simmers and MTS users. I found it a little rude how you said ITS YOUR COMPUTER . In majority the game has been slow . If you want proof you can ask many other simmers. Go on youtube type how can i make my sims 3 game faster there'll be thousands and thousands of videos. Go to google type the same there'll be billions, trillions, zillions(I THINK I EXAGGERATED A BIT) links and tips
Now,the graphics, yeah, you might be correct there.....There is of course the options button which allows us to change the graphics, again that my makes my game get slower and slower!!
There is also another factor MODS you just can't do anything without mods!!!!!!!!!!!!
cos the items we get in built the CD is P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C!!!!!!
Believe me they slow down your game!!!
Well any complaints?IF not, keep on playing!!
If so,just buzz off!

Definitely agree with the performance. The Sims 3 is clunky so it is something they should actively try to improve.

In terms of graphics, I thought The Sims 3 was headed in a good direction (aside from the playdough looking sims which may be as much the fault of their textures as it is the game mechanics in CAS and a couple of other poorly designed items/textures) but it could definitely could have been improved. I liked the promotional image they showed which feels like a cross between The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, however, I can't help but feel it is a step backwards but I will hold judgement until we see some proper images.

I saw this on tumblr which is how I'd imagine the next evolution of The Sims themselves to be (perhaps a little less "uncanny valley" but it's a good illustration): http://25.media.tumblr.com/c9d44de0...ptfdqo1_500.jpg

Well, since TS4 will most likely have a new game engine (at least I hope so), probably. But, knowing EA, probably not.
BTW, graphics don't make a game. Gameplay does. Besides the mountains of bugs, glitches, graphical errors, etc., TS3 is a great game.
Instructor
#22 Old 26th May 2013 at 6:45 PM
Graphics? No. I don't think the graphics will be any better. They might look different but I don't think they'll be any better. The graphics in TS3 aren't really that bad, though I do prefer the cartoon style more I think.

I think the game will run faster though. But only if you have a computer built for gaming. If you're like me and can't afford a $25083406 gaming PC, I assume it'll run about the same as TS3 or maybe slower if the game is "heavy".

See, I would hate that. I have always loved the cartoony aspects of the game, the exaggeration, and the rather subversive humor. For me, more realistic or more beautiful Sims would get in the way of that.

Too realistic = uncanny valley effect. Too unrealistic = Can't take the damn game seriously.

EA will probably be leaning more towards the middle of those. How can you have another sequel to a long-running game and NOT have improved graphics? What I see here looks like an improvement in styling, not graphics so much. The "style" of the Sims 3 took a little getting used to; hopefully these Sims won't have jacked up looking lips when they smile.

My male Sims are...Simulicious!
