Looks like they found a curtains factory! Fun though. I'd have no idea where to start with FO tbh. I assume you'd need some kind of utility to extract the materials to start with.

Yes, you need a tool to extract the game's materials and textures if you're doing a recolour (and to extract meshes if you're doing a new or modified mesh). You need a material editor to edit the material files to make Material Swaps, as recolour sets are called in FO4. And you need the Bethesda Creation Kit to package your new creations with. Here's a list of what you'll require and where to get them:

Bethesda Creation Kit: https://www.creationkit.com/fallout...title=Main_Page , and under Install the Creation Kit: Fallout 4, click the link to download the Bethesda.net Launcher. From the Launcher, download the Creation Kit and install it.

Bethesda Archive Extractor: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/78/? . MAKE SURE YOU ALSO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL MICROSOFT VC++ 2015 REDIST as instructed on BAE's download window (link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dow...s.aspx?id=53587 ), or else BAE won't work. Install the VC++ redistributable first, and then install BAE.

Material Editor: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3635/?

And you need a graphics editor able to work with .dds files, such as Photoshop. FO4 uses DXT5 for textures with alpha, DXT1 for textures with no alpha, with Generate Mipmaps On.

As mentioned, if you need pointing in the right direction getting started, I'll give some useful links and try to answer any questions I can! For instance, once you've made your recolour, you also need to know how to make it obtainable in-game. Easy to do with Workshop-crafted furniture/decor objects, but trickier with 'CAS'-type stuff, so I can tell you what to do in that case.

I love Bethesda's Fallout games because their game engine produces so many hilariously funny bugs/glitches, but last night I was treated to the weirdest one I've ever experienced so far - has this happened to anyone here? It went on for about 10-15 minutes and I managed to capture the last 4 minutes of it. Kamikaze NPCs, LOL. The video gets wackier as it goes on, and the glitch only stopped when an enemy appeared and the NPCs went into combat mode, and then they returned to normal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6Bvo7okLfM . So funny! Loved Gage's remark of "That sure was fun, huh, boss?" at the end of the glitch.

That's the time sync glitch, I have had minor ones and seen even one of the super mutant behemoth falling from the sky and kill himself.
The best thing to do when it happens is to quit and startup again at the last auto save unless you did one yourself just before it starts.

Time sync glitch, ah, I haven't heard of that before. I wonder what causes it? It sure was crazy. I've occasionally seen an NPC suddenly teleport him/herself from one position to another, but never 10-15 ongoing minutes of loads of NPCs just skyrocketing up and then plummeting down again! All I wanted was to screenshot the companions wearing a new outfit I'd just made, and it turned out to be impossible, LOL. I reloaded and the glitch seemed to be gone, but to be on the safe side I had us travel back to the Commonwealth to take the pics instead, where all was OK!

Do you use the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch? https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4598

I don't have the unofficial patch - I'm aware that it exists but decided not to use it after reading many mentions of it fixing some bugs but causing new issues. I'll stick with the game's own vanilla bugs, I find them highly entertaining. It's just that what happened in my above video was hilariously more OTT than anything I'd experienced in FO4 (or any game, for that matter) before!

Good old Dogmeat - finding an enemy and saving the day.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

Maybe I should have a go at some recolours. I see you got Danse out of his armour too (about time). I love Dogmeat - there's a pair of kennels at every site in my game - for him and the resident guard dog. There's even a cat to chase at Sanctuary. I should recolour those, if it's possible, they're all grey otherwise. I want a nice tabby. I've never modded or recoloured for FO4.

Just in case you ever return to this thread, I just happened upon a mod that made me remember your wish for recoloured cats (and it includes an orange tabby!). Craftable Cats: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/...tab=description . (And as it comes as loose files rather than as a compressed archive, you could even replace one of its .dds files in the Texture folder that it installs in your Data folder, with a recolour of your own if you want to.)
