Default UK General Elections - Who do you support?
With the UK General Elections on the 7th of May edging closer and closer, it's about time we open this thread to the (few) British users, and the (many) Europeans, Asians, Oceanieans and Americans. To sum up, who will you vote for in the UK General Elections?
>Conservatives (Mother hates them)
>Labour (My family's party)
>Liberal Democrats (Dunno)
>UKIP (F*CK YOU!)
So there are the political parties, based on my opinion. Who will you vote for on 7/5/2015? My parents will vote for Labour.
EDIT: Who the hell is the Green Party? I don't care, Cameron.

Just to amend that:

>Conservatives (Mother hates them - can't argue with that)
>Labour (My family's party - mine too probably)
>Liberal Democrats (Dunno - dead in the water)
>UKIP (F*CK YOU! - god help us)

Also if you are Scottish, it's not unlikely you'll go for the SNP and there are other parties (Greens, Plaid Cymru & Northern Ireland parties (not getting into partisanship here) etc.).

I'm not from the UK and we don't really learn any British or world politics in school (sadly) but I'm guessing the Conservative party is conservative? And then the Labour party is more liberal? Sounds like most of my family would love the Conservative party. I usually vote split ticket though, partly Republican and partly Democrat. Also do you all vote for the people or the party itself? Sorry I'm so ignorant about it.

UK is party politics. That said we vote for people to represent us and it's not unheard of for an MP to still win their seat even when their party is losing based on how hard they have worked for their constituency and how popular they are locally. We don't vote, of course, for any other figure (so not the Prime Minister as many people seem to expect - even UKers bizzarly).

You're just as bad as the BBC, OP, pretending the marginal left (Greens) don't exist but giving airtime to the marginal right (UKIP).

UKIP are just Conservatives for stupid people. Conservatives are like the american Republicans, only less religious (but probably still the most religious party in the UK). Labour are basically the middle, not too left, not too right, but those on the right consider it very left. I'm not sure what the liberal democrats represent... Right now they're just the Conservatives whipping boys.
From what I gather, all the "mainstream" parties (Conservatives, LibDems and Labour... I remember it being just between Labour and Conservatives when I was younger) lie and don't follow through with their "promises".

I don't really vote but if I did it would be for the Green party. They actually care about people more than trying to fix the make believe "deficit".

I'm not really one for politics.

Pretty much the only explanation of the Tories (conservitives) needed for outsiders.

With under a month until the General Elections, there are intense verbal attacks on each party. I'm considering the Green Party now.

It's scary how UKIP are in third place right now, and the other day, I discovered that my family relatives are voting UKIP. I think I fell out with them.

My family is working class (even though we don't look like it, family fund), so my parents shall vote Labour. I prefer the middle ground, because I know that the Tories are slightly-fascist, and Labour is slightly-communist. Although with the Conservatives bringing the UK out of recession, I'm concerned about Labour's budget plans.

EDIT: To users who don't know what parliament is: Here.

Labour aren't even close to communist - they're barely even socialist any more. All the parties have slid over to the right with their made up immigration crises, anti-poor rhetoric, and licking the boots of corporations. It's sad, this country needs a real socialist party.

Well, results are coming in. Looks like we're stuck with conservatives, ugh. I voted for Greens, by the way, even though I know they would never win in my area, I don't believe in voting for a party that doesn't represent you. So I didn't vote Labour to "keep the Tories out", or as I call it, voting for the lesser of two evils.

There really needs to be a reform to voting, because as it is, smaller parties won't ever win enough seats to make a difference. Even if Greens got over 1 million votes, they only have one seat. That's messed up, in my opinion.

Yeah. I'm in Nick Clegg's seat and as he had an 81% chance of winning, I figured I could vote how I like so I voted Green. Had Cleggy lost the runner up would have been a Labour candidate, so I didn't have to worry about keeping anyone out for once, which is nice. We really do need PR.

So, what's going on with the bacon sandwich and how does that relate to the election? Did you guys decide a bacon sandwich was a better representative than the available choices?

Nah, the Greens beat a bacon sandwich.

I'm a left wing. I guess the Liberals would do me the biggest favour. Not sure about their leader though. Seemed like he wasn't much of a likeable guy?
Just the word "conservative" makes me go a little biiip.

Depends which guy you mean. The Liberal Democrats' leader, Nick Clegg, was pretty popular until he formed a coalition with the conservatives last election. Labour's leader, Ed Milliband, has never been very popular, so he might be the person you're thinking of - but describing Labour as liberal is a bit of a stretch.

They've both resigned now, though!
