Default Has anyone posted about the Sims 3 promotion going on with livejournal?
I run a livejournal community and from the 15th of this month to the 15th of next month pretty much all of the sims 2 communities will be having a promotion that's being run on behalf of LJ and EA for The Sims 3. Each community was given TWO copies of the game, one for the maintainers of the community and one to give away.

We were also told we are getting EXCLUSIVE Sims 3 content to post in the communities as well.

Figured I'd let you all know.

So far the sim communities I know that are taking part, including my own are:

So I'm guessing it's another giveaway the EU is excluded from? Not to be melodramatic but that tends to be the case.

The giveaway is US only. So it's really the rest of the world that's excluded.

Oh well!

Also add http://community.livejournal.com/sims3communtiy/ to the list. I'm a mod of that community.

Good stuff! I liked the videos that introduce some of the pre-made characters in that last one. It's cool how in Magnus' video you can actually see stuff happening in the sky like a plane flying overhead, it's not so plain anymore.

Yeah, I really like the new Meet The Sims videos. (I made a post about it here.) I will be on the look out for some of these sims especialy Mangus and the clumsy chief.

Hmmm ... might be interesting ... but I hope it doesn't generate some kind of spam/scam thing.

Hah, easy way for EA to get advertising worth thousands, for two copies of the game. No thank you. Too sell-offish.

I think you mean "sell-out". And way to be self-righteous. I doubt you'd turn down a free copy of the game, and they'll be getting special info as well, and two questions per community will be answered. It's not like they are charging their members any money.

Psh, I wouldn't want another EA game on my computer unless I actually would have interest in the game. I don't kiss up to people just for something shiny. I wonder what unique info; everything being reported in "exclusive" previews is repetitive. It's just a really cheap way for EA to advertise.

If it is a real copy of the game, are any of your communities planning to donate the "give away" copy to some of the people who are interested in making modding tools for Sims 3 so people like Inge, Pescado, etc. can get a head start on getting rid of the major annoyances and making a way to add CC?

I am Ghost. My husband is sidneydoj. I post, he downloads, and I wanted to keep my post count.

I'm not the main mod for my community but the "give away" copy of the game goes to the contest winner on June 15. We can't just send it to game modder unless they enter and win the contest.

That would be a really good idea. I'd love to see all the major people who are going to be fixing/improving the game get those copies. It probably won't happen though.

They're only giving communities two copies. One for the maintainers (Which most of the communities have like 4) and one copy along with a keyboard and mouse.
