An SSD is a solid state drive. Instead of a spinning platter like in a regular hard drive, it uses memory chips sorta like the main memory on the motherboard. While not as fast as main memory, it is way way faster than a standard spinning HD. Installation isn't really that bad, a few YT videos will help out, and they're way more affordable than a few years ago. I still have the original HD in there for additional storage of things like photos, videos, music, but the operating system and all the programs, such as TS4, are on the SSD for fast loading.
