Default New graphics card
Hi I looked at the graphics card requirements, but the card I'm looking for is much newer, so it wasn't there. Does anyone know if all sims 2 EP's will work with NVIDIA GTX 7900?

The 7900 isn't new at all, it must be getting on for eight or nine years old. Do you mean the 790? If so, yes, it'll work great with TS2.

I will warn you now that the card in that laptop has a lot of problems with overheating playing Sims 2.

ADD: I had XPS M170 with same card and they had to replace it 7 times before the warranty ran out.

Well then. The 7900 wasn't a typo. Nysha is right though, the 7900 is old. That computer you linked to is old, for that matter. Windows XP? Yeah. OLD. Was it the "gaming computer" that got your attention? If so, it may be a good idea to look for another one that's newer, with a better graphics card and an operating system that's still supported.

fake edit since marka posted while I was slowly typing: There you have it.. the voice of personal experience. (And you wouldn't have the benefit of having a warranty.)

I have an AMD RADEON X300 graphics card on Windows XP 32-bit SP2. According to Speccy it was released in 2004, and it's working with all EPs and SPs installed right now. It lags a bit when I crank up the settings, but I lower them so I don't play with much problems.

I am quite surprised how well it's working because this computer used to be an office computer, and those computers usually have weak graphic chips to discourage gaming.

TS2 is an old game now, so it's more and more playable on crappy graphics, especially if you watch your polycounts when downloading CC. I don't really know anything about the X300, but if you nurse it, I'm not surprised it works relatively well. I think the point in regards to the OP, though, is that there's no point paying $400 for something which is 10 generations out of date and totally obsolete.

Would that graphics card be considered a non capable one? Because the specs, are a lot more for those. But I think those are mostly integrated graphics right?

I suggest you reword that so that it's clear which graphcis card you're talking about, and whether it's that graphics card or "the other ones" that you think are better.

Don't get me wrong about this but the GTX 7900 is a great card but running Sims 2 on it will over heat it.

That laptop was made before 2006 so it is at least 7 years old and most laptop last about 4 years before that start to go bad on you.

Okay... just so you're clear, the laptop you're looking at does not have a GTX 790, which is a fantastic card and would cope fine with TS2. It has a Go 7900, which is a mediocre card which could play TS2 but isn't really worth any money nowadays.

I have no idea what type of graphics card I have (its an internal) but I bought my Toshiba laptop at Walmart for $300. Keep in mind this was three years ago. I only use it for playing the sims (my smartphone gets used more for typical "computer stuff ie email & websurfing lol) & I have all eps & sps. Lately has been crashing occasionally & does lag now & again, but I think that has more to do with my groaning cc amount.

There's no such thing. A laptop which can play all TS3 EPs costs around $1000. You can buy a cheaper laptop, of course, and it'll last a fraction of the time a proper laptop would have lasted, so you end up paying more in the end.
