Inspired by Sonshine's current thread about them, I'm currently playing the Newson family. Now I normally pause my game before saving and quitting, so I quite often tell the game to load a family and go and do something else while it loads. I had left the Newsons at about 2:15 in the morning with everyone asleep except Georgia (still a toddler in my game) who was downstairs playing with the toy garage. So the lot opened, showing the kitchen area, with no Sims in sight, and I occasionally glanced at the screen as I continued to do other things. Suddenly I was surprised -- shocked even -- to see a large yellow plumbbob moving quickly across the screen. Obviously the game wasn't paused! The plumbbob turned out to be above the head of young Gabriella who was going to get a shower. It was after 10 o'clock in the morning and everyone was awake. Nothing disastrous had happened -- no one had died or been taken away by a social worker. Ginger was emptying a potty, Gallagher was cleaning up (he's generally a very helpful boy) and Gavin was going to the toilet. But both toddlers were hungry and in a bad mood. Garrett (who is potty-trained) was stuck in his crib. He had wet his nappy once and was well on the way to wetting it again.

I was in two minds what to do. By nature I'm a micromanager, and the Newsons, with two toddlers and no adults, are not an easy family to play. But they had survived, and with Ginger Newson in charge, I maybe shouldn't be surprised. Young she may be, but she's extremely capable. And Gavin's no dullard either. Garrett wasn't very happy, but I'm pretty sure he hadn't suffered any permanent psychological damage. It's not the first time that Ginger and Gavin haven't managed to get him or Georgia to the potty on time. And it probably won't be the last.

But I don't have that much time with my Sims, and I really don't like to miss a whole 8 hours of their lives. So I decided to quit without saving. We'll play that night again, and see if they do any better with my help. But it was gratifying to see that, if pushed, they could manage without me. The Newsons have gone up in my estimation.

@AndrewGloria

For the Stuck in the Crib issue, I use a Mod by Inge Jones that allows toddlers to get out of the crib on their own. You might like it. http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims2P...2_Childcare.htm scroll down the page a bit and there it is.

I finally got to university this rotation. Tank, Johnny and Ophelia are part of a rather large incoming freshman class and I had to slap bang my first ever dormitory together to hold them all. I'm 100% unhappy with the distribution, as I like the game to spawn townies and most of the halls are filled with maxis freshmen who had been put in off-campus housing and relocated as per university rules. Still, Klara started up with William and was immediately removed from the hall. I didn't have a lot of time and didn't fancy dealing with her attitude. I considered swapping the twins Aldric and Americ, but I kind of figured it wasn't awful that they stay together... I guess. I would prefer each twin to have his own life, but if they're determined they're determined. They're doing well in the largest hall on campus: the Mesa Commons (cough - I built that one - cough).

I decided to cut some of the annoyances out this time and removed all the easels, arcade games, computers, and consoles from the main parts of the halls. These things are 'personal items' that yours truly would have had to bring to uni, so I want my simmies to also have to strive a bit and buy what they need to succeed in their programmes. Olive will handle Ophelia's expenses, but I have a feeling Tank isn't going to have as much money to spend as he might think... he doesn't know what's going on at home yet. I've been working on kitting students out with computers - laptops specifically since that's how it works at uni, especially as a fresher. They can buy the telescopes, easels and video game consoles that they want as well. And a few have actually started to study - now that he's out of the silly greek house set up Matthew is actually distinguishing himself a bit in that department. When families send money, or student loans discharge, the whole cohort will benefit unfortunately, but it still kind of works since only the student who's family/loans came through is going to get anything with it. For students that don't have families in the main hood, they'll get whatever's left. I have a LOT of loans to set up on the next rotation, and will finish getting everyone made over properly.

Sooo what's happening right now is that my computer crushed a few days ago and I had to reinstall the game and sadly was unable to recover my backed up gameplay and/or downloads
I started redowloading my favorite CC, and by now got my essential mods+Body Shop items+foods (a very important part on my game!). Also, I decided to start playing Desiderta Valley, a neighbourhood I've never played before, so now I am rearranging it and filling its streets with various community and residential lots. When I finish this I will add 3-4 families and finally start playing (rotation), and will grow my CC collection with time.

I finally got my butt in gear and decided to make the fifth vacation spot ... a Twikkii-based one.

When I did the Three Lakes custom hood, the challenge was thinking of different vacation spots, then making buildings for them, since most normal people wouldn't want them, and I found no downloads to suit my strange requirements. I researched European building styles between 1700 - 1750, then made characters in my mind (who would WANT such a shop?), then started building. The hood took me a month to complete. I picked the neighborhood terrain map immediately ... one of the Maxis ones.

For this new hood, the challenge seems to start at trying to pick out the right hood map in the first place! I wanted a place that was small.

Not quite this small, since I like my beach lots, though I was REALLY tempted ... http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=218435

A little larger. But no more than spaces for about 20 - 30 lots, with a wee space to spare. Most of the small terrains, though, weren't small enough, or looked really odd when I went to place beaches, and even crashed on a few occasions. I'm not the sort of person who spends weeks placing trees. Yup. I'm lazy that way.

Also, I wanted a separate island ... not connected to anything. If need be though, I'd be fine if there was a hint of a connection to a mainland.

I'd really rather not spend another month making a hood. Two weeks, maybe? It's already been three days just for the terrain, and I STILL have to choose between two!

Anyway, after going through about a dozen hoods and making and deleting a whole bunch of test neighborhoods, I wound up picking another Maxis terrain as one of the two finalists ... Moon Islands. Connected, but barely, and pretty forgiving with beach lots, including flattened ones, and I can put in flattened lots without making the terrain look really weird. Not 100% what I was thinking of, but 85% is fine. I lowered the mountain in the middle a little, though.

Now it will be time to test the two finalist maps and see which one works for me. I feel like that finicky old lady in the restaurant who wants salt, but just a little salt. No pepper. And extra garlic, but not too much extra garlic! The custom map is very nice as well. It will be hard to pick.

That does it. I am kicking myself for not getting the SimCity 4 game I saw in the thrift store a year or so ago. What a silly goose I was. I would have been out two bucks at best, and if I made a lousy terrain, people could snicker at the nitpicky lady. If I ever see it for two bucks there again, I'm nabbing it pronto.

Great. So on to the buildings. I have about half already. Cool. I like building, and can use three newer buildings I recently made and a few tried and trues. There are some lovely lots I've downloaded, and I can fake things a little with a few neighborhood deco buildings.

Fine. I'm about half there! But I realize ... most beach destinations have more than just a lighthouse, some shopping, a spa, a boardwalk and hotels. They need some NIGHTLIFE, darn it! So ...

But wait. I want a small-lot beach or tropical bar, but not too small. Maybe a flattened shrunken lot? Not too "tiki-tiki-tiki" roomish (referring to a little ditty in an old Disneyland destination that got really annoying when you heard it for the 10th time!). No more than a dozen or so CC items, and no CC hacks needed to make it work other than beach-flattening, which is a Maxis cheat code. And this and that and ... Time to search MTS2 and other sites.

Oh, bother. Are my tastes THAT weird? And I know of few real-life beach destinations with ONE bar or nightclub.

Well, at least I don't need SimCity4 for that. Gdayars might be amused that after I made so much of a fuss about not making a bar or nightclub, I will wind up making one ... maybe two different ones. And there are some other buildings ...

I'll take that with salt, but not too much salt. No pepper. And garlic, but not too much garlic. Egads. Maybe I am a fussy old lady.

It may take a month, after all!

Latest news from the Beginning of Pleasantview Hood:

Same-Sex Merriage was finally legalized. And soon after two couples got married:

1)Joshua Strauss and Ramiz Al Mahmoud (Nigat Caliente's twin brother)
2)Jane Stacks and Allexandrina Crumplebottom

Both of them also adopted, and both got boys with names that start in "R". So the two newest residents of the neighbourhood are Reed Strauss and Rodney Stacks.

After all the testing, I went with the custom lot ... M.M.A.A.'s Fisher's Island. That was about 95% what I wanted, I don't get crashing with beach lots, have plenty of room for several flattened beach lots and except for one small road issue, everything lays out nicely with little road warping. The terrain clicked nicely with me.

Now for the bars and a couple of tourist spots. I don't know if M.M.A.A. wants to see what I did with the place.

Well, you really can't have a tropical/beach vacation destination without a bar or nightclub! More than one. Kind of required here. There are many nice lots here, but many have really long CC lists (I'm putting my DL folder on a diet) or are huge, or just aren't quite the style I want. And some of the oldest lots ... well ... there were things we didn't know about corruption then. I try to stick with post-2010 lots, when we knew some of the problems.

So ... it's a 2x2 bar and small dance floor. Maybe a small eatery or food stand on the premises. I do make bars sometimes (I made one that that I put in a former fire tower, based on real-life floor plans), and made one in a antebellum house, again based on real-life floor plans, but since I wasn't that much into the bar scene back then (I went, but not often ... I am NOT a teetotaler!), I don't know if my bars are ... bar-y ... enough. I feel a little out of my element.

I'm basing one on a bar that closed in Florida a decade or two ago. I don't have the best pictures,
though, so if I ever, ever share the picture, all apologies to Floridians!

With my luck, the next contest will be the "Best Bar" contest. I hope to be a play-along again.

I'm testing out my new vacation hood Tutuaca Desert with a few spring breakers from the university. The plan is to be half Burning Man- camping, art, music, bonfires, copious drinking- and up in the hills, more like Palm Desert, CA vibe with modern desert mansions.

The first 3 pics are the only camping lot I've built, and the last 2 pics are a community lot- Center Camp. There's an awning/tent over the whole fenced part.

So far so good. No one has caught fire or developed heatstroke.

Cool idea! I never thought of a festival sort of lot.

OK. Got a whole bunch of liquor bottles and a cute dartboard recolor ... some from here. And there are some marvelous bar counters on this site ... nice and colorful and sometimes even glittery. This bar needs lots of color. My Downloads folder is scowling at me. I have enough booze bottles to make my entire neighborhood drunk as skunks ... including the skunk.

I was trying to find a lit strip to go behind the bottles since I saw it in a Google search (no help when I checked the page out), but apparently that might be a private or cheaty thing, since I've seen it once and that's it. A cool effect like that would appear more than once. The lit Maxis rod things might have to do. I also have some neon-y wallpaper I downloaded years ago that could work.

Just how hard can it be to make a bar that looks like a bar ... not simply something with the Maxis bar simply plopped in there, like I have in the past? (And yes, I downloaded the lovely Irish Pub goodies from Around the Sims.)

Gdayars, you do realize this might not appear in public? Honestly and strangely, even though I've made bars before, I really don't feel comfy making them.

Argh, when I exited this lot, all the sims were turning into hot-pink silhouettes (computer overheating). Now they're jumping. What did I do? How did I do?

Okay, cleared trash, no one has corrupt memories, change their clothes, look at logs and they say something about jobs, check in SimPE--adult has unknown career, fix that, nope, still jumping, turn testingcheats off, force errors on all, move them to new house, still jumping. Try another family, they're also jumping.

Oh.

Wait.

I installed a pair of mods, one required the other.

Remove mods.

No more jumping.

Troubleshooting would be soooo much easier if my memory were better! (I suspect it was an interaction with some other mod, not the mods in and of themselves. Probably they don't like Inteen. Because nothing likes Inteen.)

In the Ottomas Empire, King Peter is delighted to announce that the Queen has been delivered of two baby boys: Prince Andrew, future Duke of Desiderata Valley, and Prince George, future Duke of Pleasantview. His Majesty has accordingly announced a day of great rejoicing throughout the land (he's not offering to pay for it, though).

Daisy Greenman is proving to be an excellent nursemaid. She's taught Prince Tommy all his toddler skills, helped Princess Sharla with her first homework, and is now autonomously playing with and cuddling the babies.

That Jack Thompson was such a scamp! At first I thought he might be okay. He did get a job after his dad nagged him nonstop for about 24 hours. They still didn't make enough money to clear tax day without a warning. So, they took in a border, Kendra Blaise. Single women all over the hood are looking to find male room mates since they can no longer buy or sell anything on their own.

Anyway, she moved in shortly before Jack discovered a magic object. It gave him a baby. Single parenthood and magic both are big no no's, so he begged Kendra to marry him just for appearance's sake. She did and was left caring for this baby while he continued dating and trying to connive ways to make money.

For a short time he opened a brothel. He figured his dad would never figure it out. Thomas had long since turned the family finances over to him, so he was clueless about how much money they had. He'd also gotten a full-time job to augment his retirement since their tax burden is so high.

But, he began to be bothered by so many people just "dropping" by. His background in law enforcement gave him decent spidey senses, so he knew something was wrong, but couldn't conceive of what his son had done. He never figured it out.

Nevertheless, he finally insisted the family move to get away from the "riffraff hanging around". They found a nice apartment in an old converted house. It was big enough for the four of them. Thomas felt they could afford that and with the money they saved from selling the house, they would be okay. (He still had no idea of how much they really had).

So, Jack closed the brothel and the family moved. But, as luck would have it, Jack found another blessed object, a genie lamp. He couldn't resist playing.

Now the rule with magic is you can use it sparingly. The more you depend upon it, the more likely it is to backfire. Sometimes you get warnings. After one encounter, for example, a big family, the Sirachs, showed up at the door, escorted by resettlement officers. Their home had been flooded and the Thompsons were ordered to share their apartment with them. This brought the total of souls up from a comfortable 4 to a painful 12 trapped in a two-bedroom apartment.

To make matters worse, the rest of the family discovered the genie lamp, too. But, it was when Jack decided to try to become a genie himself that things went horribly wrong.

Kaylynn and infant son, Maine, were the only ones the genie left alive. The good news is she's filthy rich and her butler can buy the things she needs and pay the rent for her. The bad news is she's gone slightly batty from grief.

Playing a new Apocalypse challenge (this ruleset:https://leilia.livejournal.com/tag/apocalypse%20rules ).

Adult start founder, Queenie Walsh, which is always a dubious prospect. My story, such as it is, is that Queenie's flying saucer crashed, and that was the apocalypse trigger. Queenie was not particularly good at living as a sim. However, Benjamin Long, with two bolts, managed to walk by the house enough for her to fall in love and try for baby, so little Novel Walsh was born. This didn't seem like something Benjamin needed to know about to Queenie. Even though birth queens don't take care of baby aliens, Queenie was a decent mom, though not spontaneously affectionate. Of course, Queenie couldn't work for much of her adult life, but she wrote novels and built skills, and the day Novel became a teen, just two days before Queenie became an elder, got a job in Law. That was not possible to complete-she had only five charisma points, so when Slacker was open the next day, she took that instead and skilled charisma until she aged up. Novel grew up, as knowledge sims in the apocalypse do, very unhappy to have terrible grades and not go to college, but got a job in Business immediately. So uncontrollable elder mother and controllable daughter were racing up the career paths. As a teen, Novel had befriended a bunch of townies, and two of them--Joe Carr and Komei Tellerman, both had double bolts with her. Both kept walking by and ringing the bell while she was at work, so she couldn't do anything to romance them as she scrambled up her career.
With two days left as an elder, and having finally gone permaplat off of LTA points, Queenie actually lifted Slacker! Nothing quite like an entire career uncontrollable! (If I'd watched the friend requirements, she'd've had it the day before.) Novel was at level seven. Of course, it was the middle of the week, and no phones working. C'mon, Joe, Komei, where are you? So the next day, of course Joe walks by while Novel's working. Twice. Then Queenie died, and the following day Novel topped business, and got home just in time to meet her dad on the sidewalk. She'd no sooner said "Hey, aren't you my dad?" then Komei walked by, and she had Komei move in and sent Benjamin on his way.
Instant Criminal lift. Note that without Business lifted or Natural Science or some other way to feed them, a Criminal lift is suicide on that ruleset. Huge sigh of relief here.
Three lifts down, and baby on the way, all is well, if hungry and stinky, in apocalypse land. Queenie came out to haunt and scared precisely no-one. I think she meant to check in on Novel, but Novel popped at the wrong moment and the scare got preempted. Although, as often happens on these difficult apocalypse houses, something went wrong with the grief emitters on the landing between the stairs when Queenie died (I don't know why, Novel and Queenie were out on the back corner of the lot so her tombstone would be there), and I ended up having to use the stuck-object-remover to get rid of them, and lost stairs and a door as well, so maybe Queenie couldn't 'see' the new stairs.

Chloe Gonzaga found herself pregnant after a werewolf attack by none other than Romeo Monty. She hid the pregnancy completely from her in-laws and children. Her husband, Bassianus Capp was away in college so the baby clearly wasn't his and she was scared they wouldn't believe her and she'd be killed for cheating. She felt the twinges of labour and instantly locked her bedroom door before giving birth to Isadore Gonzaga, a beautiful little girl looking just like her. Cornwall, Regan and two of Chloe's triplets were outside the door asking what all the fuss was about and complaining that the door was locked. Chloe told them she was under the weather, and when they finally went back to doing their own thing, she quickly picked up a newspaper she had hid in her bedroom and found herself an apartment in downtown she could run off to. She did consider just giving the baby up for adoption and returning, but she was still uncertain. Either way, she had to be out of this crazy village for now atleast.

Oliver Monty had a small meet-and-greet with all the brown haired single girls his age in town. Despite brown hair being one of his turn ons, he didn't really seem that keen on any of them. Eventually he got chatting to Tulip Greenman, a plantspawn turned normal sim whose mission in life is to go back to being a plantsim. She loves gardening and pretty much nothing else. But somehow Oliver and Tulip are making it work... or are trying too. Who knows, maybe the Monty house is about to become a little greener?

Abhijeet Cho is still enjoying his life on the soil farm. Youngest son Aspen just became a toddler. One of Moonbeam's daughters, Peewee got married earlier this rotation and moved in with her husband, Coriander Greenman. Now only Harmony (Peewee's twin) lives on the farm with her, Abhijeet and their two sons Windmill and Aspen. Most of the work is divided among the women; Moonbeam and Peewee both water, spray and tend to crops, as well as feeding the animals. But Abhijeet is teaching Windmill (and eventually Aspen) to fish. I need a breastfeeding mod for toddlers... doesn't make sense these sims live on a farm and live off the land, but toddlers are throwing bright green plastic bottles everywhere.

I'm trying to set religions for Emerald Heights and got a bit overwhelmed and bored. The best solution or that is to play something else for a while, and I wanted something completely different than usual, so I downloaded Polgannon.
I don't have all stuff packs installed right now, but the hood runs well. It's just missing some floors, walls, sinks, beds, and couches as far as I can tell. For few sims it's bad news as all their money will go for new things.

Due to an influx in teenage/adult abductees moving to Strangetown, head architect Ajay Loner has built 9 new houses in a district he's named 'Paradise Place'. Three rows of three across a small empty patch at the end of Road to Nowhere. Each house contains 2 bedrooms, 1 bedroom, small porch outside and an open plan livingroom/kitchen, - everything a recent abductee would need to settle into strangetown life and parenthood of their new alien spawn. Also all houses cost between $10,895 (bare necessities) - $12,110 (slightly nicer necessities).

I actually downloaded this house, stripped it down, made it look more Strangetown-y (more cactus, less flowers) and then made the same house again but a mirrored version. To be honest, I think it would've looked just as nice without mirroring it... but... I like to give myself more work. Some have garages.

The first resident of Paradise place was Allina DeBateau-Caliente. She's due her baby next rotation. I imagine there'll be some more residents eventually. I think Joe Burb might end up moving in with his son. Who knows, maybe Allina will have a daughter and they'll fall in love. Who knows.

Roxie Sharpe changed her mind again (she says it's her prerogative as a pregnant Sim), and decided she could perfectly well finish her degree while raising a baby after all. Newborn Jack is now installed in Edwin's room, and Edwin even had the sense to call a nanny when he realized they'd all be out of the house at the same time for their exams. Jonah, on the other hand, has so far shown zero interest in the child, and also failed his semester.

Edwin's plans to move in with Delilah were scotched when Mitch Indie beat him to it; after a whirlwind romance, Mitch and Delilah are engaged and living together, though they don't seem interested in carrying the relationship any further just yet. Mitch's family instincts are fulfilled for now by the addition of a bird named Tacitus (his choice) and a womrat named Sooty (Delilah's preferred pet).

Instead, Edwin has moved in with Max Flexor, but with winter coming on they quickly decided they really didn't want to stay in the twin cabins, with the inconvenience of having to go from one to the other all the time. They were originally planning to move into a spacious bungalow opposite Delilah's house, until it occurred to Max that this would make love-sick Edwin look like a stalker! So they moved into the ranch-style bungalow opposite the twin cabins, which is smaller, but on the bright side gives them more money to spend on furnishings. Exactly how they're going to meet any girls is uncertain, and from that point of view they might have done better to have moved into a dorm, but they seem happy as they are for now.

I was back in Loste for the last rotation and the promised shenanigans have kicked off!

Circe made it into her third trimester safely- she and Loki have put their big plans on hold to welcome their bundle of joy, and nothing will get in their way. I'm installing a washing machine in their home on the next round.

At the Grunt house, things have escalated quickly. Kristen came round for a visit and never left. She moved in, popped (if her constant vomiting wasn't enough) and the General proposed. Tank was home from university for a short break and was introduced to his fathers fiance. He liked her a lot (double bolts) but she can't stand him. I suspect he tried to kiss her when everyone's back was turned and she's over him altogether. Who knew finance sims were so loyal? They're planning to get married just before the baby comes.

Over at what once was the Single's residence, Erin Beaker was left high and dry with all of Kristen's things and no roommate. She put an ad in the paper and Ajay Loner moved in. Within the first week of him living there, he'd tried and failed to kiss Erin. He succeeded on the second go, and the two got busy. Erin is now also pregnant and double bolting for Ajay. Ajay wants to propose (he's just terrified of rejection.)

So now there are three new babies coming to Loste, and we won't hit the Gavigans until the end of this rotation. Viva la romance!

Maddie Picaso, featured in the teen sims thread after her boyfriend, Brock Kim broke up with her after discovering she was pregnant, gave birth to a daughter - Commodore Picaso. "Dory" for short. She looks just like Brock so far, with his brown eyes and black hair. Hopefully she'll grow up looking a little more like Maddie... or maybe not, being that Maddie inherited her Mum's broken face template

Next house along, Maddie's older sister Emily Picaso-Curious welcomed in another set of twin boys - Vaughn and Vernon. Just like with Viktor & Vulcan, one has alien skin and the other a light tan. This time though, both have distinct alien characteristics. Emily sighed, more children she wouldn't be able to show to her very anti-alien family. It's hard being married to an alien-hybrid. The only child that had a "normal" face is Viktor... the only problem is, he's pretty damn green. Ah well. Emily loves her boys the way they are.

In the Beaker household, the cleaning robot was on the fritz again. It spewed piles of junk everywhere. Nobody noticed until morning but by then the piles had attracted flies. The garbage covered the first floor completely. Circe fixed the damn thing again, whilst Brannare cleaned up some of the trash. Loki sat at the diningroom table complaining of the smell and evil-eyeing Brannare the whole time. Eventually the robot was working again and Brannare made her father some breakfast. The second it was made, he ran off to work without tasting any. Brannare ate her pancakes on her own, thinking about what life must be like outside of Strangetown.

No progress was made in the alien testing facility, but Artie Goodie, romance sim who has been estranged from his wife for about 10 years now, rolled a want to have a baby. I thought it was really weird... then I remembered that his wife, Sharla (Ottomas) is currently pregnant (not Artie's baby). I felt bad so I locked the want. Maybe one day Artie. Maybe one day.

Moving right along with the vacation hood. I've been using a template to place the lots and make new ones, but I now opened the fifth vacation spot in my good game. So far, my Sims can see a lighthouse, buy a house and stay at a few hotels/motels. I have been placing lots in my good game when I am satisfied with them in my template; a little at a time.

I finished the nightclub/bar. It's packaged and ready for the good hood. Yay. It took me almost a week to make. It's on a shrunken flat beach lot. It has a CC list a mile long, though. All those bottles ...

My daughter has given the "It looks pretty good" designation (I can almost swear she can be pickier than judges here sometimes, but I DO ask for her honest opinion, and if it crushes me that much, then I shouldn't be asking, now should I? ), but she offered one comment I had to agree with: the club is more for upscale tourists. She advised that I should find or make a more downscale bar.

Gdayars must really be smiling at me now. Kindly, I hope. I did find a bar here that could work, but I won't mention the download link here because I'm not quite sure that the lot creator wants the creation to be labeled as a "downscaled bar". It looks too good, though ... I would have to grungify it a little!

Or .... I could Google bars in beach areas such as Key West FL and Virginia Beach and see if I could find a bar that can inspire me there. This one might be more of a challenge. I haven't been in a grungier bar since college days (a few decades ago!). I was a goody-two-shoes back then, but not THAT much of one! Oh, well. At least I'll be putting all that bottle clutter to good use.

Lesson learned. I will think really carefully before ever writing, "I don't want to do a [name of lot]" again!

In the meantime, I would like to make a spa. As is my usual wont, small or medium lots. I have a go-to spa I made that I use quite often, and that could work fine with some foliage changes. But I'm thinking of doing another one with curvier lines that could fit into my vacation theme. Looking at all my stuff, particularly the stuff I've posted here, I tend to lean toward angular. Going curvier could be a new challenge.

And there is still that senior retirement house I'd like to make. And I was going to take a building break, too. Right. Maybe it's an addiction.

Once the spa, third bar, a couple of shopping areas and foliage is in place, it's time for the YAs in one of the dorms to take a Spring Break vacation. I wish I could take one with them!

Thanks to ALL free-site creators, admins and mods.

RIP Sunni ... truly a ray of light.

May I suggest a bar that's basically a tent or pavilion, such as you'd find at a street fair, beach party, or open-air market? You spread a rug on the sand under the canopy, set up your bar with an ice chest behind it, and you're in business.

Realizing that it'd been a year or more since I played my "regular" Widespot, I opened it up a few nights ago and started playing in normal rotation order. David Ottomas has moved into a trailer park after college, and landed a job with the county extension agent. He threw a party to celebrate and ignored the first-night outing; something told him it would be Virginia, and he needs to stay away from her now that she's married. He got to know his neighbor Dun Knowe over chess and Dun's son Udo is in a fair way to being friends with David's little sister Olivia. Alli Knowe decided to go for one more child and is now waddling around the trailer park in her second trimester. How they're going to get by on Dun's wages as a drive-through clerk is a good question.

Rocky Beech threw his off-to-college party, which went well, though he was a bit miffed that Delta spent so much time playing rock-paper-scissors with Ike Gavigan. Once he got her attention, though, she was properly affectionate. He is now installed at LGU with his BFF River, River's high school steady Ginger Newson, Gavin Newson, and Gavin's fiancee Sadie Wilkie. Rocky had three scholarships so they can now afford to rent a house if they want one. But which house? And Ginger is actively being scouted by the sorority...Hamilton and Sandy have already transformed his bedroom into a study. Wallys's life centers around school sports, but he's also noticing, and going after, girls who are too old for him. He has his sights on Sharla Ottomas, even though she's dated his cousin Arden..

Matthew Picaso doesn't feel guilty about his fling with Roxie Sharpe (Jessica's best friend), exactly, but he did stay home with toddler Pablo so Jessica could go in to work and finally get a promotion. She's considering taking an honorable discharge, but the promotion makes her hesitate. He also watered her tomatoes for her and tried to clean stuff up, though he didn't succeed very well. Messes just keep happening around him, he doesn't know how.

Trent Traveller's first day teaching high school science went well. He brought Skye Weiss home with him, and Topher was very taken by him, as he would talk about interesting things like Saturn and math. Trisha hired Nery Turner to run the register at Booktique, which may have been a mistake. She lost several sales when people refused to wait for him any more. Tina wants a sales badge but what she got was restocking. All in good time, Tina!

At the Ottomas house, I realized I hadn't rolled the pacifier yet when Samantha went into labor in the kitchen, so I paused, saved, bought a batbox, and used it. The birth video rolled anyhow and Samantha got a little blonde daughter, at which point the batbox kicked in and we went to neighborhood. During subsequent attempts to continue the house she had another blonde daughter and a brunet boy, with neither of whom she could interact; in fact, she didn't even finish giving birth to them, but waddled off in the middle of the cutscene to clean the counters, and remained in her pregnant state with the baby lying on the floor. I finally took Jo's advice and moved them out of the house, which has officially burned down due to a freak accident with a kitchen fire and a lightning storm. The Ottomai - Peter, Samantha, Sharla, Tommy, Olivia and Viola, and Rosalind - moved into the last remaining trailer in David's trailer park, a three-bedroom unit in which they are extremely crowded. Thank goodness for bunk beds! Everyone was glad to be alive and with plenty of insurance money. They can rebuild on the same lot, but it'll take a little time. Samantha gave birth in front of the mailbox before the landlady even showed up, and blonde, brown-eyed Flavia is now the youngest Ottomas. Rosalind, taught to walk by Tommy just in time, grew up in the evening in a cardigan, skirt, and purple-striped tights, and looks perfect.

Ike Gavigan's little sister Ruth also grew up well. He didn't throw a party, but he did invite a bunch of his friends over. Sharla brought Rosalind and Tina brought Topher and Tilda. Rosalind turns out to be a bit of a brat and went around taunting people.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

Today was a huge day in “Old Town”, because Mortimer Goth met with Diana DeBore from the near town called “Garden Heights” (Thanks to the Hood Building Group here on MTS, I did makeovers to all the Sims of the place) to discuss an expansion of the city, for Diana this means give her full control over the little town and open the doors to many other Sims, that’s the reason she is doubtful about this idea, but Mortimer was a good and charismatic talker so after a couple of hours they closed the deal.

The initial opening of the roads and trades business will be slow, first none of the people from Old Town or Riverside, Nocturna and Bluewater Village can move to Garden Heights for 2 years, after that time the little town will open new spaces of land and houses for new people.

The current habitants of Garden Heights can’t move to any of the places of Old Town by their own, but they can move if they married someone of the city. All the taxes in a period of 2 years are for Diana DeBore and she will be automatically reelected mayor for the same period, also she will also can choose the two Sims for the city council.

For Mortimer this is a great deal, because he needs places for the new habitants of Old Town, and the center of the city is a place that he wants to keep with a minimal population, but with the rise of the people on the campus and in the downtown, the needs for more houses is critical.

Diana on the other side is happy that can take a lot of money from this deal and obviously wants more benefits with the time, she already have Reece Mustella like one of her representatives for the city council, now she only needs another one that can be naïve and dreamy.
