You start with one of the tutorials here: http://www.modthesims.info/forumdisplay.php?f=708
Right now, given the tools we have, by far the easiest for a beginner will be a clothing recolor using ColorMagic, S4PE and either GIMP (free) or Photoshop (not free). Pick your tut depending on which image editor you're using And if you run into specific problems, feel free to ask here... just, to get a useful answer... be REALLY specific when asking the question

Srikandi, are you able to advise the correct directory file to use when creating recolours? (post game launch)
I was able to create recolours using the demo before release, but obviously the directory has since changed...
I hope this post makes sense! haha.

Hi,
The tutorials don't help at all. Where can I find Color Magic and S4PE ? Is there some way to extract the game textures using Photoshop ?
I'm a confused wannabe modder,

Which tutorial did you try?
They should all have links to Color Magic and S4PE. So does the Tools forum here: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=532317
Basically, you create a package from the item you want to mod using Color Magic. Then you use S4PE to export them as DDS files. Then you can open them in Photoshop. You'll need to have the Photoshop DDS plugin installed.
Detailed instructions are in the tutorials, but I'll direct link you to Platinum Simmers, since she covers Photoshop specifically: https://www.platinumsimmers.com/art...for-the-sims-4/

Mods go in the TS4 mods folder instead of the Demo mods folder: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods .
Otherwise nothing has changed
Personally, btw, I use another folder while working on the recolors -- one folder per project -- so I can keep my image files together with the package. Then I copy it to Mods when I'm done. But it's up to you, the game will ignore files that aren't .packages.
