Default Sims 1 complete collection
The sims 1 complete collection is coming in the mail. I can't wait. I had fun with just the base game/livin large and I know I'm going to have fun with the whole game!

I never actually got all the Sims 1 expansion packs -- only Makin' Magic and Unleased. Does the Complete Collection work with Windows 8.1?

Complete Collection works with 8.1 in windowed mode. It's unplayable in full screen.

Ah, thanks a bunch, nurny.

I might be able to snag the discs as a birthday gift.

Really? How? Mine has this weird graphical fuckup where everything is a black box except for objects, and only when you hover over them. I've tried every possible compatibility mode combination and it still won't go away.

I did not use any compatibility mode I just installed it to the default location and away it went.

You may want to get the video card/chip driver for it instead of the computer manufactures drivers a try.

That's even more surprising, since Windows 8 doesn't like Sims 1 in Program Files and always tried to DEP me when I ran it. I'm not sure what you mean by getting "the video card/chip driver for it instead of the computer manufactures drivers".

Computer manufactures have there own drivers for the chips on there motherboards and if you know what brand your video/chip is you can down load the video/chip driver instead of the computer manufactures driver.

Asus computers have Asus driver for Nvida video card/chip and Nvida has drivers for the card/chip and this is the driver that you may want to try. It may or may not work for you.

I'm patched to the newest Nvidia driver, not including betas. But thanks for suggesting it.

There's a story mode that you can take small pictures with.

You can use the storymode to keep track of things in-game, but even by in-game camera standards the pictures aren't very good. To get pictures to share of the quality to which we have become accustomed, you'll need a screenshot program. The usual suspects - Fraps, Gadwin, etc. - should work as well for Sims1 as for later versions, I would think.

There is an upper limit to how good the pictures can be due to the lack of control of the game point-of-view camera - you can't fine-tune the zooming.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

If you're in windowed mode, you can use Windows' Snipping Tool to capture just the window. Other than that, you can try print screen, or an external program like what peni griffin suggested.

I have the Complete Collection too! I love playing with it! Takes me back to when I was 6 or 7 years old. Hope you have fun with it!

Someone disagreed with the above post? So...Averex doesn't enjoy the Complete Collection? It doesn't take her back to when she was 6 or 7? She doesn't hope CulMiku enjoys the game? So, that person feels that they understand what Averex feels and thinks better than she does? Yeah, I don't think so!

I had all the expansion packs but when the complete collection came out, I decided to get it to save me time installing it all if I ever needed to re-install. I gave the old set to my friend who wasn't a big gamer but always liked the sims and her laptop was too old/slow for sims 2.

I love it, it even has some extra stuff on it that wasn't in the other games - Just a couple of skins but the main one I remember was Elise's outfit from the SSX Tricky (pretty much the ONLY sport game I've ever enjoyed, I freaking LOVED SSX Tricky!).

I am still using Windows 7 (I decided to skip 8, just as I skipped Vista) and I couldn't run the game from my original disks, no matter what I tried. (I know others can - it just did not work for me.) So I had to get TCC and it works perfectly.

TCC? Is that a compatibility program?

It's short for The Complete Collection. Which works a little differently than the original disks, and better with current systems, apparently.
