Can someone help me with blender???(with S4S)
I know how to use most of the tools in blender, but what I'm having trouble with is:

-Linking objects with the bones on the sim rig
-Making textures for those objects

If an advanced mesher could help explain to me how to do this, that would be fantastic! I haven't been able to find any tutorials on it, sadly. Take note: I am a very beginner modder. I've made plenty of textures, but I want to go into meshing. Thanks a million!

You can probably check out the Sims 4 Studio website tutorials - they are actually very helpful. I have no experience with this kind of thing, but orangemittens on the S4S website may be able to help. There are plenty of tutorials on blender, and I believe linking objects is one of them, and as for texture making goes, you may be able to find a tutorial on the website too. I'll see if I can dig up something - good luck!

OK - so, I couldn't find anything on the S4S forms (I would try asking there,) but I did find some Blender tutorials. I hope you find these helpful!

Linking Objects...: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/D...kinning/Objects
Textures: http://cgi.tutsplus.com/tutorials/c...ender--cg-26619

NOTE: A good (FREE!) program for texture making is GIMP. Photoshop is great too, although expensive.

Making a good texture has no relation to what 3d editor or packaging tool you use, except for stuff like baking shadows (in blender) that can be a useful starting point for texturing. Like kathcberg91 I’d recommend blender.org for tutorials on that (and on UV mapping); you could also check the TS2/3 forums since that’s the same thing no matter what game it is for -- TS3 textures work differently from TS2/4 overall but the baking stuff is the same procedure, since you also need a shadow texture for TS3.

How do you mean “linking with the bones on the sim rig”, is this an object that sims interact with? Can you be a bit more specific what you need to do?

When you say you made plenty of textures, do you mean for TS4 or just in general? I’m not sure what kind of advice you are looking for .. what is the trouble you’re having?

What I mean is that I know in order for the mesh to display on the sim it has to be attached to the one of the bones, but I don't know how to do that. And by made plenty of textures, I mean I am familiar with GIMP and how to use it to make textures, such as tattoos and makeup. I have also made shirts. I have already learned how to edit an EA hair mesh, but at the moment that's all I really know how to do.

Oh, duh! I didn’t pay attention to which forum this was posted in – by “objects” you mean accessories, yes? Now it makes sense to me .. I was thinking objects as in couch tables.

I haven’t used blender for anything CAS yet, so I can only point you at http://www.blender.org/manual/rigging/ .

What is the texturing issue you are having? In general I’d recommend to start by editing an existing Maxis CAS part, just like you seem to have done with hair .. that way you’ll see how it is mapped and textured, and can use that as a reference for your own projects. Or if you are already working on something and are getting stuck somewhere, please describe the exact problem you’re having (best with a screenshot).

There is a very basic and easy to follow tutorial on adding accessories in TS4 for beginners here, using Blender and Sims 4 Studio (it was how I originally learned to do it): http://www.sims4studio.com/thread/1...ccessory?page=1 . (Note that it is an older tutorial and the main screen of S4S has changed since then - nowadays you will choose CAS/Create 3D mesh from the main screen.)

And a more advanced and in-depth one here (still aimed at beginners): http://www.sims4studio.com/thread/1...-mesh-beginners

Hopefully those will arm you with all the info you need. Good luck!

If I'm understanding the question correctly it sounds like you want to assign your accessory item to a joint other than whatever you cloned was initially assigned to. If this is the case, in addition to the tutorials Esmeralda has linked, I would suggest this one: http://sims4studio.com/thread/305/c...signment?page=1
