Today I discovered that this happens if you try to build a stilted foundation next to a regular one:
Tumblr - more downloads! ◾ CC reuploads / creator backups ◾ TS3 CAS Conversion Catalog - for basegame, EP, SP, and Store clothing!

It'll (mostly) fix itself if you lay more normal foundation over the area next to the stilts. (The corners of the foundation next to the stilts retain the see-through effect)

That when you send two sims to appreciate statues or any other objects of interest they communate as if discussing about those items!
If I only knew that this existed earlier I would have let my sims visit Art galery more often!

I've found out that Master Controller allows you to change gender preference for babies, toddlers and children Sims. Of course it has no effect until they are teens, but it's still neat that you can preset Sims' gender preference before they will start to be romantically involved.
With that in mind, I've created quite a situation for the future of Moonlight Falls, in which I play now, where I made all the boys gays and all the girls straight, which means the girls in future will have quite a problem to find romantic interest. I wonder how the game will deal with that problem when the kids will age up to teens and later to young adults LOL

I will, though it may take some time as I, unfortunately, don't have as much time to play Sims 3 anymore, as I wish I had. Unfortunately, real life obligations are taking the fun with my Sims away from me
But I still do play and now I've found out another new thing. For record, I am playing with Seasons ever since it was released. The more surprising is that until now I didn't see the wish to watch weather forecast on TV. However, this wish was translated quite confusingly in Czech version (and it's not the only time when Czech translations are confusing and to be honest I don't even know why I still bother to play Sims 3 in Czech language) and similarly confusing picture with laptop that wish has didn't help either, so I send my child Sim, Ruby, to the computer to look at weather forecast, as he already was at computer, writing his next sci-fi bestseller. To my surprise, that didn't fill the wish, so I had to send him watch TV, which fulfilled the wish. After that I did some research and found out that the said wish in English is "Watch Weather Channel", which, despite the confusing pic, is quite clear as to why it is only fulfiilled by watching weather on TV. Why the Czech translators couldn't be more clear when translating this wish, I don't understand.
BTW, speaking of writing, I find it funny that Ruby's sci-fi book was bestseller and brought home more money than the book my YA Sims, Denis, who is self-employed writer, so you could consider him professional, was writing at the same time. Something you could only see in Sims 3 and I love that about this game

TIL: Aliens can't abduct aliens.
I have resident aliens living in my town, and they don't show up when Zork goes to abduct someone.
Sims are better than us.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned.
You can sell back partially eaten birthday cakes in buy mode (ew). You get a depreciated value on it but it doesn't matter how many slices it has left or if the cake has spoiled. That's right, super poor sims could buy a birthday cake, eat seven slices, then sell that last slice back.

This sounds like a function of the Celebrity System to me. Someday your sim will be famous and that last slice of cake from their toddler birthday will be worth a fortune, so of course there is a market for such things. That's also why kleptos and the repo-sim will take used potty chairs.
Disclaimer: I'm actually just making this all up as I go along, but it would be pretty cool if it all really worked that way.

I figured it would work... that if you used a fairy potion on a genie the genie would be freed from the lamp, but they are not added to the household. NRAAS register will pick them up as a homeless sim and give them a job. Not sure what happened to the old consignment specialist - she was doing weird things like going next door to Thor's Gym and lost a lot of weight on the treadmill.
I wasn't sure if you had to use potent cure first or just go straight to fairy juice. Yep. Straight fairy juice.
Lost the lamp, tho' nope! Still have the lamp, but it moved in my inventory. It's empty, so a quick trip to France ought to fix it.

Logically, harvestable plants have slots for the fruit; didn't stop me from doing a double take when I was trying to place some buy mode plants and this happened

Your advice was so on time. I was just wondering about it too. Thank you so much!

I think the first time I learned how to tilt the camera was seeing someone's screenshot on TS3 forum years ago. Then I remember a card with the controls came with TS3 base game and it lists it there as well. That's where I learned how to save a camera position when taking screenshots that need to be in the same position and it's great that the game saves it. Anyway, the tilt feature is really nice.

Today, I've discovered weird bug. I couldn't send my Sims to school or work before their time to be there was, but once the time has come (9:00 for both) they have "late for school" or "late for work" notice on their job screen and I could send them there. Thankfully, I am always making multiple saves, so I went back to the save shortly before 9 and teleported my kids to their school and Peter to his workplace and at 9, when the possibility to go to school or work appeared, I send them there. In the end, none of the boys was scolded and Peter was actually raised that day. However, when the time was for the boys to go to scouts, they didn't and instead went back home. I don't know if that's related, but it was weird and annoying as well. It was really weird bug and I hope I will not see it again.

I discovered that, strangely, CASt can be applied to objects on distant lots under certain conditions.
I was painting the rides in my theme park hood, and accidentally applied CASt to a faraway rollercoaster. There was no red X on top of the CASt hand, which there normally would be when attempting this. Weird!

TS3 NEEDS: TENNIS COURTS > BUSES > PIGS/SHEEP
Can't find stuff in build and buy mode? http://www.nexusmods.com/thesims3/mods/1/?

I always thought toddlers couldn't be taken into restaurants because they don't show up when selecting (eat here with...), but today I discovered that if one of the sims that can be selected, is holding the toddler, they enter and the toddler's hunger bar is filled as well. I just thought it was like greeting cards before now, that if the toddler wasn't selected they would be put down and the selected sim would enter without them.
Am I the only one who didn't realize this until now? Haha I feel like it's obvious now that I know..

You can set free the burglar who tried to rob you and the police officer will stop in their tracks to talk to you like a disappointed parent.. ''please don't do that again.'' :p
Also, simbots can't go jogging :/

I didn't know a Sim could hold a large bird and use the rocking chair.
Also, I kept wondering why my Sims would get the answer door or answer phone in their queue but no one was at the door or on the phone. That's cute that the bird imitates those sounds.

That's probably because you built the stilted foundation first, and the regular foundation after.

Aha! I see! That will be very useful the next time I try making something on stilts!

The "Bore to death" interaction that Sims' of No sense of Humour Trait possess is very hilarious and overpowered. When my sim initiated that interaction for the first time I thought that sim was already worn out due to sleep deprivation. Now that it all repeated on the second sim, checking up with the wiki... I think I know how I can enrich my boring's whole vacation trip on champs les sims (insert sadistic grin).
P.S. Sorry for my bad english.
