So adding this to my list ( Doing Snatched by the fae and Locked In currently) My question: Can you adopt heirs? Just in case Bob doesn't want to try until the day before he turns into an elder and you don't conceive anyways. Dang Bob! Always ruining stuff for Marlene ( Wut )

Although I'm not OP, I would say it would be no. Just for the simple fact that it would ruin the legacy and the kids wouldn't look the same

Couple things I learned that might aid you in updating the rules:

-Fairies have the same lifespan as vampires, so you might want to consider adding a rule about them too if lifespan is the main issue there.

-The cheapest fairy house is a bed and fridge in one, for less than the cheapest bed and fridge combined.

-Werewolves age 50% slower when they reach the YA stage and are completely broken in terms of scavenging; in less than a Sim week, my Sim had enough to pay back the computer and build a fully furnished bathroom, without ever having a job.

-You can place down a lot worth $500 and easily pay back the computer, and the rules currently say nothing about that, so it's a loophole you might want to close.

Question:

When we have to pay the loan back for our lot of land ... can we work around that by having a mod that lets us take out a loan? like this one:

I was able to qualify for a part-time job and gardening on literally the first day!

I put my founder in Bridgeport, and had him going around the central park picking flowers. Turns out, these flowers were worth hundreds of simoleons a pop! So I was able to pay off my $100 lot of land mortgage (since I just used a 10x10 lot; I took inspiration from the "Runaway Teen" challenge), and I was able to build a 10x2 house with all the minimum specs listed in the OP, literally after just the first day!

So, I got a part time job at the grocery store, planted about five lettuce to grow, kept about five more to eat, and then I went to sleep in my sleeping bag.

I can even continue to go back to school if I wanted! It's literally just the first day!

I actually did this a while ago, and I managed to complete it in 17 generations. I had a lot of Genius Sims coincidentally, and they worked usually in Medical, Law Enforcement, or Science in spare time, they would bost Logic, and another Skill they can make money from (I.e. Gardening, Painting, Sculpting (got Sculpting table a week into 1st generation)) and they would also Solve the Unsolvable. Non-geniuses worked in self-employed careers and I had them look after the kids and od a lot of work

Are our founders only allowed to have part time jobs or can they have full time jobs once they reach young adulthood?

You say that "travel" is off limits until we have $50,000 funds.

Does this include going to University? I mean ... what if we get a FULL scholarship, and so it doesn't cost us anything to go to University? The reason behind the $50k prerequisite to travel is because people don't just up and go on vacations unless they can afford it, right?

I'm doing great so far! Not only have I paid off my land (7,200 simoleons) but, my founder owns a now 5-star resort along with 3 buildings, and she has 40,000 dollars in the bank. This challenge is brilliant, and I'll posts pics.

I'm starting this as soon as I make my founder! Would I be allowed to possibly add even more of a challenge to keep it even more interesting for me and have a sibling of my starting teen? It will start out as a toddler, that way it can't help pay back the property price, but it'll make it more difficult and add some story. :D

I've never been able to finish a legacy or get past more than a few generations (my longest was 6 but it slowly got boring and I ended up deleting the file because I wasn't interested in playing it anymore), but this has a BIG challenge to it, so I think I'm going to try it!
I'll try to see how long it takes and if it doesn't take an incredibly long amount of time I may possibly make it into the randomized legacy thing when I finish, keeping the file interesting (if it doesn't decide it wants to start glitching out or stop working at some point. If anything I'll save the lot and family and move it to a new save! lol)

I think they can have full time jobs as soon as they can pay off their lot and have at least something to call an address.

I started a new Legacy Challenge, this time in Sunset Valley. I'm still on my first generation, but I managed to pay off my $14,700 lot of land, AND get a house built, within a week! Specifically, I got rid of the horse ranch near the Landgraab Manor, and used that 60x60 lot as my starting lot. Since it has the "beautiful vista" bonus to it, it's a lot more expensive than any normal 64x64 lot.

I created my founder Sim to have the "born salesman," "frugal," and "bot building" traits. I went into "Edit Town" (because there's nothing in the rules saying I can't do that), and I placed a Bot Emporium near the area.

The Bot Emporium became my unofficial job. I went in there, used their bot building station to spam neutron nanites and turn them into Competent Cleaner trait chips, and then I consigned them. Because of my traits, I actually got a whopping $1,224 simoleons a pop for them! So I was able to pay off my super-expensive mortgage in no time at all!

Also, when I got up to 30,000 lifetime happiness points, I just got myself a magic lamp and wished for a hundred grand! The rules say I can't use the inheritance wish until the third generation ... but it didn't say anything about the magic lamp! Besides, the lamp is preferable anyway! I get more money per wish, and I get three wishes, for a grand total of 300,000 simoleons! why would I ever pick the inheritance over the magic lamp?!

So I'm trying this, I think. Here's a link to where I'll be chronicling the journey. Erm. The first chapter's depressing-ish, but it'll get better eventually.

Eta: Two more chapters up, and slowly but surely things are getting better!

it' has taken 10 sim days, but I have finally done it. I have payed back that pesky computer. Now to find a part time job and start building a home. Just in time for winter too!

The only thing I brought before paying back the computer was a sleeping bag. Everything else I used was in the town, fridges showers toliets etc, plus got my founder (Somer Deb) a boyfriend (AJ Vito) so she can use him for socialisation and a roof over her head for rainy nights.

She paid off the computer by rummaging, harvesting & fishing etc.. So far loving this challenge !

You are just a devious one. Amazing nobody else noted to use magic lamp instead of inheritance... I would probs marry the genie as well! XD

I'm going to be doing a 2 heir rags to riches legacy. But I'll be doing this for as many generations as I need.(maybe going even farther after the challenge is finished) It's going to be difficult, I know that much, but I know that this will be a lot of fun!

Currently at a net worth (house, investments & cash) of a little over a million. Founder & spouse are not gainfully employed, first gen heir is still a toddler. Looking at how my household is going, it's likely I'll have this done & dusted by gen 10. I'll have to see what happens, but so far everything is looking great for the Lades.
Oh, I didn't know if you're supposed to zero out family funds when you move in, so I did that. I also deducted $7.5K from family funds to cover the cost of the lot at a later stage. I may have done that twice because my memory is like a sieve.

I am of the honest opinion that the inheritance reward is less cheaty than the dusty old lamp reward. They both cost the same to earn but inheritance gives you between $30-50K and the dusty old lamp potentially gives $300K. Still, the loophole was permitted above in the rules so...

Thanks, I hate it.
