[CAW] Road Textures by Elmigo (v2.1 - latest - link updated 29-07-2015)

CAW TEXTURES
If you ever feel like you are too limited if you're trying to create roads, this is the place to be. I have created loads of road parts. A huge pack including all you need: road textures, road details, sidewalk tiles, crosswalks, and all available for everyone. Yes, I'm aware of the fact that there already is a road texture pack around on the internet. This pack just contains more. Pretty much everything realistic that's possible. To give you a clear image of the content of the pack I'm offering, I've uploaded some images too (scroll down). Please note that the files offered in this package are just textures and details, so eye-candy only.

DOWNLOADING
> DOWNLOAD (v2.1 - latest - link updated 29-07-2015)

INSTALLATION
To "install" these textures, put the downloaded file into the following folder and extract it:
Documents >> Electronic Arts >> The Sims 3 Create A World-Tool >> UserToolData >> SourceTextures
Updating an older version of this package? It is best to completely delete the older version before extracting this new one into that same folder.
Note: you might want to create a custom folder in here to extract this file.

SUGGESTIONS
If you have any suggestions or ideas for new road pieces, feel free to post it in the comments! I would love to try out new things. Please keep in mind that things such as text on the roads is not possible. Also have a look at one of the road detail (stripes) files in this package. This way you can get an idea of the possibilities, or create road details yourself. For a tutorial on how to do the long dashed lines on the road, see post #10 in this topic. A link to this post is on top of this post.

@ LS_Bari

Are you talking about the one in the picture below? If so, it's already available in the package I have uploaded.

FILE IS UPDATED (13 JAN 2013)
A full opacity sidewalk file is added and the normal maps are deleted since they were not working properly. Instead you can use the default normal maps from the CAW. I promise you won't notice the differences. The crosswalks are also modified so they will fit better.

Hi Elmigo!

Thank you for the wonderful pack. I've download this version and the previous version, but I can't find the long dashed lines. All the dashed lines I have are short. Is there something I'm missing? Also, if I try to choose a displacement field CAW say that the file does not exist even though I'm staring right at it. Not sure if that is your issue. I just wanted to inform you.

@RafreaknRa

Hello there.

I apologize for this inconvenience. I understand that this could be really annoying
when it says the file can not be found. Right now, I can't think of any solution
because I have never seen such thing into the Create A World-Tool. I'll write it
down and see when I have a possible solution for it.

About the long distance dashed lines, I will explain it below. Please note that
creating turns with this special long dashed line texture is possible, but might
be a really hard thing to do. You might want to try rotating the grid by steps of
maybe 10 degrees and placing each road segment rotated in a 10 degree angle.

HOW TO DO THE LONG DASHED LINES ON THE ROAD

* Step 1:
First create a new road using all-white_continuous.png for the road detail.
This file can be found into the folder:
Street Detail \ Default Lines \ All White
in my texture package.

* Step 2:
Now create an other road with exactly the same textures, only this time use the
file white_no-center_continuous.png for the road detail.
This file can be found into the folder:
Street Detail \ No Center Lines
in my texture package.

* Step 3:
In order to have dashed lines out of these two road pieces, connect these two
in the right order. For an example, see the image below.

Note: you can also use other detail textures and combine them to create the road
details you want.

@sims4gio
Well, thank you too for downloading! I hope you have a lot of fun and good luck creating worlds. If there's anything you want to know about the textures, you can ask me.

Also, this topic teaches you how to make a nice highway exit for your highway roads. Made that topic a while ago and might just help you as a CAW beginner just a little...

Hi, these are lovely roads! However, when I clicked to download, the link took me to the main page of file hosting instead. Can we have a proper link, please?

Great! Might I suggest adding double yellow lines like we have in England? For example :
