Default Desktop Suggestion to play TS3 with all expansions.
I am looking for a computer that will run TS3 with all of the expansions and lots of custom content. The computer will also be used for everyday computing such as using microsoft office, email, internet, printshop, and I'm a student. My budget will allow for an alienware desktop but if someone could suggest a cheaper model that would be great.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

What country are you buying from? Do you plan on playing any other games? If so, which ones? The Sims 4? Do you have any parts you can re-use? Would you be willing to assemble the computer yourself? Do you already own a copy of Windows? You're looking for a desktop, right? Will you be moving away for school?

I am looking for a Desktop. The sims 3 and possible Sims 4 would be the only games I would be playing. The computers primary use would be for school and everyday computing. I live in the US. I would rather not build my own computer. So I guess what Im looking for is to be able to go to a website ie: Dell, HP etc and buy one that way. I just don't know what would be good. Thank you all for your help.

Here's a tentative build. Compared to an Alienware X51, its CPU and GPU are a bit weaker but in The Sims 3 you won't notice a difference. However my build includes an SSD that the X51 doesn't have, and that will load your game (and all your other programs) noticeably faster. The more CC you have the better you'll appreciate it.

I didn't include a traditional hard drive since 250GB is big enough for your OS, The Sims, all your EPs, SPs, all your CC and all your office work. However if you store music, pictures and videos then you may want to add a traditional hard drive. A 1000GB goes for about 79.99. In any case you can always add it after if you feel the need since all the components are individually replaceable or upgradable.

If you find the build too expensive we can cut corners here and there without affecting performance too much.
