NPC question.
I recently, like within the last month or so, started playing The Sims 2 and I have a question concerning an NPC. In my game, my teen brought a boy home from school named Conner Dawn and they ended up really hitting it off, so they decided to go steady. That was fine and whatnot, but when she would call him to come home, she only got the 'talk' and 'invite to stay for 3 days' options. So I looked into it and it turned out that her boyfriend is a tourist NPC from Bon Voyage, making him not available in my hood (which is just Belladonna Cove). So why he would be at school with my teen to begin with I have no idea, but whatever.
Now my teen is about to age up and I would like to send her to Uni, but I didn't want her and her boyfriend to breakup or be apart where she ages up and he doesn't, so I thought of adding him to the household. Unfortunately since he's not being read as being in the actual hood, even after inviting him to stay at my lot for 3 days, he doesn't show up on the Tombstone of L&D for me to add to the family. So I attempted to make him playable with the add neighbor to family cheat, and it sort of worked, I was able to control him enough to get his needs up and such, but I can't seen to change his clothing or appearance, like he'll go shopping, buy clothing, but then when he tries to plan an outfit, there's no clothes for him to change into. If he goes to the mirror to change his hair, it doesn't change, it just stays how it is. Thankfully I always save my game before I attempt to do something stupid, like add a possibly unplayable NPC to my household, so I just quit without saving.
But I was wondering, is there possibly a way to get him to move to the main hood? Or better yet, make him part of my family without completely screwing up my game? Like, could I go into the game files with SimPE and yank his annoying butt out the BV hood? Because at this point, even though I really like them together, I'm so frustrated that I'm about to break them up and let my sim meet someone new at Uni

I think I would attach the BV hoods, then you should be able to send him to uni via the send to uni button in your uni hood. The game is stupid like that pulling BV townies as available when they aren't. I think the trouble is he isn't really available without attaching the BV hoods.

In my game I wanted to add a townie (Mari Gergis) to a tourist family. So I opened the neighborhood in SimPE, and from Family Descriptions selected a tourist family. Then I added Mari Gergis to that family. Then I selected the townie family and deleted Mari Gergis from it. It worked obviously because next time that tourist family checked in to a hotel, Mari Gergis was with them.

Agree with Jo - you have to attach Bon Voyage (I'm sending teens from BV to Uni all the time, they are fun to play with)

Thanks for the help guys, since I've never played Uni before, I didn't know you could just send teens from the town, I thought they had to be part of the household. Tsk, sometimes the simplest way is the smartest. I'm just so use to TS3, anything that doesn't go exactly how I intended it too makes me instantly think, omg glitch! Corrupted! I'm screwed Shows how much I know lol, I'm such a TS2 n00b

You can send any teen, even the newspaper girl/boy with the button in uni. It's one of the things they got right.

Oh there are plenty of ways to corrupt good old Sims 2, more ways than Sims 3 I should think. Many of us have been playing this game for the last 10 years while modding the wazzo out of it, so feel free to ask about anything. There is also a silly question thread for quick type questions.

@BlindingEchoes if you have not gotten all the "Essential Mods" yet that should be your first step in helping stop a lot of corruption. http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=532696

This should be read through soon "Game guide:Avoiding corruption" http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Game_gui...ding_corruption

"Game guide:Which NPCs are safe to play as?" http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Game_gui...safe_to_play_as

Give your self some time and you will wonder were Sims 2 been all your life.

If you are playing the Maxis Hoods they are all pre-corrupted and you may want to get these instead.

@Marka93 Wow, that is a lot of info to go through, I feel like I just started college lol. I actually have read the NPC guide already, because I had heard horror stories from friends who tried to marry, move, change certain NPC's only to have their games go, nope, not happening. So I figured it I was better knowing what I was getting into when it came to the townies, but since I've yet to use BV (there's so much stuff to do!) I didn't know about the tourists. But I will definitely look at all the things and guides to avoid corruption, and everything you linked above, so thanks so much for all this useful info! I already adore Sims 2 so much, I thought I wouldn't, but it's just amazing and I'm so glad I got the collection when Origin was giving it away. It took me a while to install it and then get it running on my OS, damn Windows 8, but now that I do, I just wanna play it all the time :D

The newspaper kids are great to send to Uni as well Even Amy Jones keeps on phoning Sims to ask if they would like to subscribe to hobby magazines - I've decided it has to be her younger sister

For me after sending Amy Jones to Uni. and then after getting done and moving back to the main hood she would go around and kick over every ones trash cans and would not stop until she died of old age.
