Moving Sims into dorms
I have noticed that when moving sims into college there are 2 choice.1. Create a Sim
2. Move sim from sim bin.
Is it possible to use the Create a Sim option to put multiple sims in the bin together before moving them into a dorm?

Yes.
When you open Create a Student, you'll notice that, unlike Create-a-Sim in the main hood, you have a household name slot, and then when you start building a student, she'll have slots for both first and last names. So you can create a household called Freshies and create eight different sims with eight different last names, if that's what you want. Each sim will start as a freshman with the base $500 grant.
The household size limit is the same as in the main hood, and the only choices for relationship are sibling and roomie, so if you want to create a household of cousins you'll need another editing tool to edit the relationship once they're moved in.
You seem to have missed an option, too. From the neighborhood screen, you can open the option to Send Sims to College, and get a choice of all the teens in the neighborhood - both townies and playables. You can select up to eight of them and form them into a household, which will combine their scholarship money into a lump household sum. Once you've chosen and named this household, they'll move into the student bin, from which you can place them into any residence they can afford. You'll only get a grow-up video for one of them, the lowest-numbered one, so bear that in mind when choosing who to combine if seeing the video matters to you.
Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.
