If your Sims 4 is having the same issues as your Sims 3, then I'd say it's almost certainly a graphics driver issue. Try rolling back your driver.

Since all data is stored digitally, anything can get corrupted including TS4 if that answers your question.

I think that the right question would be: 'Can it corrupt as fast and as fatal and unpredictable as TS2 can?'... sadly I don't play the game so I can't answer that question.
