This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage
Default TS2 Super Collection stuck at verification on Mac
Recently I've been quite frustrated as I can't get into game. Whenever I try to open the game launcher I get a bar saying the game is getting verified. When this finishes, nothing happens... I am currently wondering if I have to reinstall the game. If this will solve anything. My Internet connection sucks so it's quite annoying to have to reinstall the game whenever there's a new update etc. Last time I played was in January and I haven't added anything new to the game after that. I even tried removing the CC folder to check if it was keeping the game from starting.

The bar looks like the one in the screencap.. Saying " verifying The Sims 2" of course.

I am fairly certain that you need to redownload the game as I think that the certificate that the game uses is broken.

Forgive me if I am telling you stuff you already know.

I am playing The Sims 2: Super Collection 1.2.3 {the latest version}, with OS X El Capitan 10.11.4.

I run a beta version of El Capitan, and you don't need to to do the same, but I Strongly Suggest that you do update to El Capitan if you are not already running 10.11.x

Check About this Mac in your Apple Menu and see what version you are running of OS X

I have never experienced this particular problem with my copy of The Sims 2: Super Collection. It sounds like something is wrong with your game somewhere, and I sure that you need to reinstall.

Drag The Sims 2: Super Collection app to the Trash.
Download a new copy from the App Store. Should be version 1.2.3

If you are running El Capitan (like I suggested) go to the Finder, then go to the View Menu -> and then Show View Options, and check the box that says "Show Library folder" to make it visible. This step will help.

Next you need to save your game files live in The Sims 2 folder, which is several levels deep in your home Library folder.

This is an easy way to get to the location you need:

1. First go to the Finder,, then select the Go menu, then drop down to the Go to Folder menu
2. Type in "~/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.sims2.appstore/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr"

That will take you to the folder one level above your "The Sims 2" folder. Move The Sims 2 folder to the Desktop, and let the game recreate it the next time you run the game. So run the game and choose what Neighborhood you want and let the game load it. Then quit.

This gives you a fresh install.

Now you can replace the new The Sims 2 folder with your saved one.

Next add some critical Mods to the Downloads folder if you don't already have them. These Critical Mods help stave off corruption and keep the game running a lot better.

This is my list of Essential Mods that stave off corruption and fix critical errors and such.
