I just received my copy this morning on DVD format. I have to say that its absolutely fantastic! The installation time and loading time are so fast!

I havent really played the game since Glamour Life came out because it slowed my game down so much!! So you can imagine my joy and utter surprise that the game was loading at warp speed!!

On another positive note I found that when changing neighborhoods the loading time is also very , very fast.

The game is basically an interactive one. So if you looking forward to tons of new clothes, objects , hairstyles and the like ; then you may be disappointed.

I havent added my CC back in yet as I have only basically browsed the game and not really played it yet. But I hope to get a chance to this evening.

Well thats all for now. If I should find any new info that hasnt been posted on
this site, I will come back and update this thread.

Happy Simming All!

Yes, I have the game in DVD format...

I've also noticed the loading times, even with my CC in the game the loading times are so much faster!

?!?!? I'll have to get it in DVD format then, to cut the loading times. I'm waiting though, until they patch it just in case there are any problems

I have been reading on the Sims2 BBS that folks with the CD ROM versions seem to be having some serious issues.

Has anyone with the DVD version had any problems with Pets hiding or overwritting your OFB/GL games? Or with the installation itself?

Happy Simming All!

I am really happy you are not having any problems! Atleast you can enjoy your game. So many people are not able to and no one from MAXIS/EA seems to be onsite to answer questions or offer help at this point. SimmasterKat is trying her best to compile a list of issues that people are having with their game so she can pass it on to MAXIS/EA.

I hope all her efforts pay off.

I have never really had any serious problems in the past. Lucky I guess.

Happy Simming!

I've been reading these cd-problems on the bbs too. I wanted the cd-version at first, but when I read these problems, I decided to get the dvd version anyway...

I have the dvd version, and had no error showing up or something. I still have all objects, etc... of all expansion packs! (but I'm testing everything this weekend, just to be certain)

I can already say that the loading is really faster, just as already said.

I have the CD version, but if I find anything wrong with it, I am going to find the DVD version. I just couldn't find it yesterday anywhere and wanted the game so bad that I got the CD one.

Can you still install the dvd version if you have the cd base game?

My CD version installed fine. I played the game for a little bit with no errors (after taking out InSim and InTeen)

O, and I'm guessing you can have the DVD version with the CD version for the base game because I have the DVD version of the base game and have installed my expansions with the CD version, So I assume it works both ways.

Yes, you can. I did it this morning and everything went well. In France, Pets is only available on DVD.

I have it in DVD format and it's slower than the others...my computer is over 4 years old however. And the pc crashed when I was about 15 minutes into the game. I think it over-heated though as my room is really hot. I hope this new expansion pack didn't cause it. If it did then no Sims 2 Pets for me x_x

I've noticed the faster speeds, I got mine this morning ( I Pre-ordered and the clerk gave me a DVD format ) When I got home I was worried it wouldn't work properly ( as I have CD base and all other expansions ) but it works GREAT! No problems, faster and I've seen an improvement in the graphics a bit too, I'm as happy as can be at the moment! :D

I have the dvd version, my game loads in half the time, even with the vast ammount of cc i have. I guess it depends on the pc though, mine is new, very fast, lots of memory and has a top notch graphics card.

My local store only had it in the DVD format and I was quite pleased that there was only one disc, since I have broken a couple of mine in the past.

I also have the cd base game and all other expansions and stuff packs on cd, so I was a little worried too, but I have had no problems.

As for faster loading I really can't tell, but that is because I recently had a hardrive crash and lost over 100 sims in my legacy family alone and decided to delete all of the custom content that I still had.
So my loading time went from 20 min (from start til I was in the family) to less then 5 min and I still haven't gotten quite used to it lol.

The store where I bought the game also only offered the DVD version so I took it. I did not have any problems with it so far. I have added back my cc and some of it does not work anymore but that was clear before the installation *g*
With cc it does not load much faster then it did with GLS but it's ok.

I got the DVD format, did not pay any attention to the version I picked up in the shop as I did not know there would be 2 versions available, glad the DVD version works with Sims 2 CD version though.

Wifey Pre-ordered for me, as a surprise, it came in the mail this morning;(Germany), DVD Format - Very Fast. I stopped playing Sims2 for some time, now I'm back poking around with SimPE this' evening.
An ADDICTION continues.
