Don't get me wrong, I LOVE pets and all the interactions that come with them and don't think they need anymore. I just got to thinking about all the stuff my own real-life pets did, and thinking up new interactions our sims could have. Add to the list:

1) If a cat is sitting on a chair/couch and a sim walks close by the cat could reach out and try to swipe them. Come on, you KNOW your cat does this.

2) Leashes! Every time I let the dog in the house the first thing she does is go touch the leash with her nose to let me know "ok u take me on walk kthxbye." It would be cute if dogs could do this.

3) Drinking out of the faucet. My cat will ONLY drink out of the faucet, and he will stand by the bathroom and yowl for hours if nobody turns it on for him.

4) I wish you could put a womrat in one of those little plastic balls and have them roll around on the floor.

I had a bunch more but I forgot them, keep adding yours and maybe I'll remember

I wish you could take the dog for a walk and actually go somewhere and be able to do stuff with them there.

Maybe this exists and I haven't found it yet but I would want my sims to order their dogs to attack or bite other sims. Would've come in handy last night when the burglar stole the new car (which the family had enjoyed for about five sim hours...). Three dogs in the house but they found the burglar just as interesting as... Something very uninteresting...

And if the sickos at EA decided that pets would be willing to drink their own as well as other sims' and pets' pee -dangit!- couldn't they at least have allowed dogs to drink from the toilet too? That's less gross IMO, and it would look hilarious!

Berg; you mean pee puddles from "accidents"? because if you do, the game just reads the pee puddle as water.

LOL I know what you mean by the first paragraph. My dogs can't stop barking at the television, no way they'd stop a burglar (><). Leave the dang television alone and make yourself useful.

Come to think of it, I don't recall hearing a cat purr. I'm sure they can, I haven't played with them much. The only cat I"ve really played with is a kitten.

They do purr when you stroke and praise them but it's pretty silent, I agree. I wouldn't hear it if my volume wasn't up.

I wish cats (and small dogs, heck maybe even big ones with just their heads) could curl onto sitting sims' laps (like when watching tv on a couch with at least 2 tiles or a double bed)

that pets could share a pet bed, its annoying to have five beds for dogs at least let two share the beds big enough

I agree with all of these (especially sharing the dog beds and curling up in laps)... also along the lines of the leash talk, I wish the Sims would use a leash when taking the dog for a walk, because in reality, most dogs would take off in a flash without being on a leash...

I thought they were supposed to be able to do that! That stinks if dogs can't attack burglars.

Hmm all of these sound like a good idea.(maybe someone will learn how to mod the game later on)

i would like the dogs to be able to jump like cats. At least some of the dogs. My dog is a spaz and can jump straight over the sofa, so it would be nice if they could do that in the game.

I wish pets wouldn't take up one whole half of a bed. It's impossible for them to jump on a single bed if a Sim is already sleeping in it. C'mon, pets in real life don't care if someone's lying in it already - no ... not even a big dog.

What exactly do you mean? I'm pretty sure I've seen a pet park community lot, so you can drive there with your pets and play or something.

That would be so cute! And it would be nice to be able to pick up the smaller dogs just like the puppies and cuddle them.

Even my huge dog when i lie down in bed lies on top of me with the head under my chin liccking it she weighs a tonne but its so cute

Or at least a mom and babies. Or small dogs, or just babies.... It is rediculous to have these enormous beds for all these tiny dogs and cats. Good news though...more than one cat can sleep on the "cat house" scratching post thing. Kittens can't, but cats can. Also, only one animal can sleep on the bed(if my sim is taking up the other side) which is also a little foolish.

The one pet per half the bed thing annoys me a bit too...I'm perfectly able to share the bed with my boyfriend AND two of our cats in real life...and I think pets sleeping on the bed are so adorable but I must discourage them or my sims won't have where to sleep. Blah

i don't have the game yet does not come out till the 26th but the sound of one per half sounds bad the bed are huge cats and dogs could sleep on the sims feet on one them

The reason being that pets are seen by the game just like sims, and beds only have 2 "slots" for sims, so the pet takes up a "slot". Otherwise, how would the game be able to avoid putting 2 cats curled up on top of each other at your feet? They should have like, 4 pet "slots" at the foot of the bed, only, the bed is only 2 squares long and the sims are 2 squares tall (or was it 3? havn't played in a while) and sims and pets can't intersect.

Oh, I know that, but it seemed like several people were upset that they didn't do that and I was explaining why it wasn't possible.

I have a list, but I'll keep it short =)
-Cuddling in bed together
-Sims will just autonoumsly lean down and stroke their pet
-If parents lecture a child, and a pet has a strong the relationship with the child,the pet could come up and start barking at the parent.
-More pet to pet interactions, like play fighting more =).

I'm a little disappointed with the pet-to-pet interactions and relationships. I think there should be more than just bark, sniff and play *rolls eyes* Didn't Unleashed have a lot more...? Real pets do more than that.

Also, I also wish that they could have a mate relationship, instead of just a high relationship with that pet. Even though that would make it difficult to have pets making babies with more than one other pet.. I still think it'd be better! I don't understand why pets can't be in love like in Unleashed.

Going with things my pets like:
- Owners should be able to give a dog an ice cube from the fridge. My do BEGS for ice!
- Pets sleep through TV, Phone, "distracting" things. My dog will sleep through everything, unless someone comes home, the doorbell rings, you yell loudly, or touch someone (see below).
- Jealousy, when another is getting attention, the pet could get upset and beg to be pet. My dog doesn't allow us to touch either each other, another person or dog, or ourselves!
- More things to dress the pets in, shirts, hats, anything for Halloween.

Other things:
- Sharing of pet beds, if they can't snuggle together, they should have different sized beds.
- More interactions, all ways (sim->pet, pet->pet, pet->sim)
- Father dog (or cat) recognising his offspring. Male sims who have babies with females they WooHoo once and never see again know they have new kids, yet a dog that lives in the same house as the mother doesn't realize he's a daddy... of TWO?! (it is recognized on the tree, though)
- Have the pets react to the caged animals. When the bird is flying, the dog could bark.
- More anonymity. When all needs are filled, go find trouble, don't just sit there and look dumb. (Been playing with maxmotives, and have to lower a motive to get them to do something.)
- Better genetic blending. I've only done one dog and one cat litter, but it seems as if they took the Pokemon approach of the base coat taking after the mother. The set of two (dogs) I had wound up looking like identical twins, I'm going to breed again to see if another will look exactly alike.

Besides those changes or add-ons, I do believe that it was a good job. I love my little Freckles (my real life dog) lookalike. He's so cute! I love how the pets are almost more customizable than sims. The endless number of layers to make the fur perfect is awesome, and seeing how they move and interact it amazing. I think the "play dead" trick is wonderful. I can't stop thinking of making another breed or creating new puppies, it's awesome.
