Eh, I probably won't put it on my Netflix list, then. I'm not squeamish either and I have no problem with scary movies, but I'm not very good at suspending disbelief (which is why I was thinking 'what the hell?!' during much of Narnia) and probably wouldn't enjoy it. There's a fine line between eccentric and just plain weird, and Pan's Labyrinth would probably walk the line, from your description. Has anyone seen Memento? Weeeird movie and very confusing, but I thought it was freaking brilliant.

Rabid: Loooooved Momento. I mean, ignoring all the gaping plot holes (how could you understand your condition if you didn't have the long term memory to do so), it's brilliant. But of course it was, it was directed by the Nolens.

One of my favorite movies EVAR is Almost Famous. I'd go live in that movie if I could.

Almost Famous is great! Seriously. The Oscar it won was well-deserved.

Has anyone seen 28 Weeks Later? After watching it, I thought it was a bit lacking. All that mad, running people--it didn't catch me.

I thought Momento was fantastic, but it's one of those movies that you can't expect to understand everything. My dad doesn't like movies that are so confusing they end up borderline unbelievable, and so when we watched Momento, he didn't like it. I don't have to fully understand a movie to appreciate it and I absolutely loved it. The tattoos, the lady who kept tricking him, the brilliant ending... it was all spectacular, and maybe even more so because I love Guy Pierce :D.

I saw 28 Weeks Later. Is the sequel called 28 Days Later? Whichever one came first, I remember it had Cillian Murphy bare nekkid in the first five minutes or so. I always feel soooo guilty watching movies with nudity- not that I think it's wrong, but I just can't help that I feel dirty by watching them. That movie was a little too frenetic and gruesome, but I do love Danny Boyle's work (he did Sunshine, too).

28 Days Later came first, IIRC. The nekkid part made me feel a bit guilty as well. Not that I don't enjoy that. :D

Haven't seen Sunshine yet, but sounds interesting.

I don't have a problem with male nudity in films. Being married, I've seen my fair share, of course.

But I watched Walk Hard with my dad, and there is seriously about 5 minutes of full frontal male nudity and it was soooo awkward!

Reading about nudity in films, Little Children comes to my mind. God, those sex scenes on the dryer look like porn:sprint:
I felt really uncomfortable while watching them. Nontheless it's a good movie.
And Patrick Wilson must have done a lot of knee bends, if you know what I mean

Any of you watched that Uma Thurman movie where her adult life is just a before-death illusion? I didn't understand that movie, and had forgotten the title

I'm comfortable with nudity, but The Ten really bugs me, its kinda like a gay tease(?), all those men singing and swaying *shudders*

Anyone watched Kill Bill (both volumes)? The first one was the only one I watched, and it was actually great. The fight scenes are awesome, and there's no absence of blood in it (yes, I'm in it for the blood :evilnod

Aww... I just watched Garden State. Seen it before, but it's still just as much of an incredibly sweet and beautifully understated movie every time I watch it again. Zach Braff directed his ass off, and both he and Natalie Portman were superb. Even if you don't like romantic dramas, it's so sweet and true that I find it impossible NOT to love it.

Speaking of unconventional romances, have you guys seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? That's one of the *best* movies I've ever seen. Rabid, I'm sure you would like it, judging from what you have posted so far.

But seriously, if anyone hasn't seen it, you need to Netflix it RIGHT NOW. It's funny, it's clever and it's so sweet and quirky. If you have a significant other, you will appriciate them so much more after watching it. It's the perefct date movie.

Yup, seen it and loved it. I wasn't sure what to think at the beginning (probably because I CANNOT for the life of me take Jim Carrey seriously), but it quickly grew on me. Beautiful movie with a poignant ending. Now you've made me want to watch it again . Eternal Sunshine and Garden State both have fabulous soundtracks, too.

I just love the part where Jim Carrey's character is trying to hid Clementine in his memories, and he's running around acting like a baby and she's flashing him her panties under the table. She was wearing an amazing dress in that scene.

Ok I know its an old movie but I've seen it 2 weeks ago on DVD and I didnt understand the end. It was Silent Hill. In the end when they go home you see her husband home sleeping at the couch and the woman and the girl are home too but then in a more foggy world. Did the girl and the woman die or so in the beginning that they are ghosts now? Or are they in another dimension? And how than?:P

Has anyone seen Nick and Nora yet? It was soooo cute. Makes me want to visit New York like crazy.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was beautiful. It's an interesting portrayal of soul-mates. Made me wonder how many different threads could have woven me in the same relationships.

Has anyone seen Driving Lessons? It stars Rupert Grint and Julie Walters (aka Ron and Molly Weasley, heh). It's a cute sort of coming-of-age movie. The characters are really easy to get attached to and care about, which to me makes a film all the more enjoyable.

RabbitRoadKill: I kind of want to see that! It got a good rating, and it sounds cute.

Has anyone seen Ghost Town? I've been wanting to see it. It sounds a lot like some of my favorite books ever, The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot. Except instead of an attractive 16-year-old girl, it's an unattractive middle-aged British dude. But, whatever.

Oh, Eternal Sunshine! *pointing to icon*
there's such a beautiful scene near the end of the movie.

the two are siting on a staircase to the beach, eating chicken.
clem: So this is it Joal.
joal: I know Clem.
clem: So what are we gonna do?
joal: Enjoy it...

And a wonderful quote:
I could die right now Clem. I'm just exactly where I wanna be.

Oh and Rabid do you have the Soundtrack of it?! There's this song called Phone Call and it's just soo beautiful. It's my most played song on iTunes.^^

Santje - yes, they died, all the people they met in Silent Hill were damned souls of the past, they also lived in another dimension, while the husband lived in ours

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind was kinda boring to me, and I hate Elijah Wood's role in that movie

I'm watching The Descent right now. It is SUCH a good movie. Totally creep. Not good for the claustrophobic. I haven't watched it in a while, so I decided I would now.

Btw, I love the Silent Hill movie (although hardcore fans of the game don't). I have it on DVD and I've watched it a zillion times. I hate the ending, honestly. It bugs me.

-edit-
Just saw about 28 Days Later and full frontal Cillian. I did not mind that AT ALL. Cillian Murphy... *drools* It's one of my favorite movies, for more reasons that just naked Cillian, but still... that was a pretty good part.

The Descent looked utterly disgusting. All of that slime... yuck.

I saw Baby Mama this weekend; wasn't as hilarious as I was led to believe, but it was still cute. I loved Steve Martin's role. "I will now reward you with five minutes of uninterrupted eye contact." And the seashell? LOL. "I will now go hide the shell in the store."

EDIT: I feel so dirty every time I see that part in 28 Days Later, but 'tis a good movie. Danny Boyle is one of my favorite directors.

Has anyone seen Religulous? I think it looks hilarious.

well I'm about 3 years too late but the other night a caught the last hour of M. Night Shamylans' 'Lady in the Water'

it wasn't bad and even after missing the first 45 minutes i was still able to understand the plot and, in fact, sorted out plot points before the characters did in the end.
M. Nights work is always a little surreal and this one was no exception. of course, if you're looking for a conclusion, explanation or any kind of follow up, forget it. thats one thing he never does, lol.

My policy is: If you have any complaints about anything at all...I hate you.

I didn't like Lady in the Water... love Shyamalan, but I didn't think that was his best work. I know that it was intended to be suspenseful (as are all his movies), but it just moved way too slow. I didn't find it believable, either- I was able to go along with Signs and The Village, but Lady in the Water's story was completely far-fetched. I felt like he didn't sell it enough, in that aspect. Not bad, but definitely not great.

Has anyone seen The Happening? Only Shyamalan movie I haven't seen, and I can't wait until I get it from Netflix.
