Chastity Bono officially announced that she will be becoming a he. Her new name will be Chaz. He's already begun hormonal treatments to begin in his transition. I'm really interested to see what he looks like as a man! Discuss Chaz's plans here. |

Well, as long as he's happy, that's all that matters. I still think he looked better as a girl, but he needs to be true to himself. |

Well I like a bit of chub, but not that much. I dunno, I think Chaz looks pretty good. And like Wicked Poppies said, as long as he's happy.

I wish Stephenie Meyer would quit writing.

Well, I'm shallow, but I shouldent be... And I know it has to be hard going throught this for him... he probably gained weight from stress, and i can compleetly understand. He needs to lose some weight to be healthy, but from what i hear, he has a girlfriend, and he seems to be getting to a point in his life where he's happy, and it's probably good that he isnt like me in that his weight would keep him from being happy. I'm way too shalow, and i need to work on that.... |

I don't think it probably really matters to any of us what Chaz looks like, as none of us will probably be dating him. I'm just glad He's strong enough to come to terms with his true gender identity, and just be himself even with the public eye trained on him. CHEERS CHAZ! |

You know what I thought was funny about all this was the fact that Cher is such a gay icon..... If not the bigest gay icon..... yet she said she still had trouble with it at first..... I would have just thought she would have been more accepting right away..... |

Well, it's always more difficult when it's your son/daughter, 'cause you know it is still hard this days just being gay, leave aside being transgender. |

That's true, my ex-lover is trans and his family had a terrible time accepting it except for his younger sister. They wouldn't call him by his new name even after legally changing it and living as male in society for two years. His mom caused, and still causes him a lot of pain and has refused to hug him at family gatherings. His life is far harder than mine as a queer identified biological woman. I'm pretty active in the LGBT community and have known many transfolk and seen how hard life can be for them. I am not silly enough to say I know what a transgendered person feels but I think the most important thing is not living a lie and killing yourself by degrees trying to force yourself into a mold that has always been wrong. I think Chaz was brave to do this in such a public fashion, hate crimes stem from ignorance and fear and hopefully people outside of the community learned a lil' something. *steps off soapbox and heads to tiki bar* |
