I came here to post my opinion about the CAW.
I downloaded the latest file version 1.18.3.170037 and rewrite the last two lines of the file on "Default" in accordance with the final version of my Sims 3:
CompatVersion = 18
WorldBuilderCompatibilityVersion = 15 (last updated 1.39)
Previously, I had tried to start the CAW, but without success, but after "upgrade" the Default, lol, I'm usually working on it!!!
Thanks so much to all of the people here who had the same troubles and who had posted solutions!

I tried that it didn't work for me. I would really like my caw tool to work again soon.
Do you have a solution for last update 1.42? Please answer when & if you find a solution. I will keep trying to solve problem myself in the meantime. I'll tell you if I find a solution to my problem. I would also like to know if anyone else has this problem. ttyl

There is a new version of Caw out today, Nov. 1st. The last one had some bugs, so be sure to uninstall the old one.

I have the latest caw & it'll still give you that incompatibility screen unless you make the necessary changes for the patch that you have. I should know cuz I just recent re-downloaded this tool.

Please all be sure to update to CAW version 1.18.5, it's running just fine for me! Please see this note also:

New version 1.18.8 does not need the INI edits anymore.

Thanks for the info Ella, they always seem to release the CAW update about a day after they release the patch. Why they can't just release them together, I'll never know. T'would make things a lot easier, especially since we have no way of telling which version of CAW they have available for download (unless we actually go ahead and download it).

It's a good thing I found this thread. Since I still don't have the latest expansion packs my Create a Word was giving me this error that you posted in the first picture.

I am currently using the CAW gameVersion 1.18.8.020037.

I have certainly tried to uninstall/install different versions of CAW,but the same thing happens everything during startup.NOTHING shows up on the screen,not even an error message.Simlpy explained.The program does not work on my system.(XP SP3)

Anybody who has a solution??
