I am going to go "Nuts" I love my Sims teens, but some things they do I can do without. We all know that teenagers love their music from Ipod to CD you name it, but my teen sims and that darn "Stereo" is driving me to the nut house. They wake up and turn it on, they come from school and turn it on, just before they go to bed they turn it on, their friend come over they turn it on, even while their parents are talking to them they turn it on. They get off the school bus with their music in their ears ticking away at the sound and beat of it; once they enter the house the stereo get turn on once again. Even when their needs are low like bladder, hygience, or hunger they will stop first and turn the stereo on. They like to shake their butts with dancing, they do this even when their fun is high and in the green, music, music and more music they will leave the stereo on loud and then go play on the piano or drums, and guitar. When I direct them to turn the stereo off they turn around and turn it right back on, when it comes to the "Stereo" I think Maxis just over killed this action. Feel free to share what your sims teens do that get on your last good nerves sometime. Remember what may be happening in my game may or may not be a problem with you.

I don't have teens. As soon as they age up I ship 'em off to college :U |

I wonder if I'll actually start posting here. Ha. |

Lol, well I know what I would be doing-pulling the plug on their music for awhile and seeing what else they can do. I must admit my teen sims tend to get neglected or worked. I use them as free labour in their parents stores. free baby sitters and otherwise if they are not studying I let them do as they please. Playing music, hanging out and giving each other noogies seems to be the usual. I just don't care for teen sims unless I have them live by themselves or with other kids. I'm usually wishing they would grow up already. |

God, I love teens. They never annoy me. Babysitting, relationship drama, faces when their parents make out, independent enough to lead community group outings, cooking, yoga, all the hobby items, repairs, parties - they're good for so many things! I sometimes neglect the parents playing them. So what if they want the stereo on while studying? Just don't put beds and stereos in the same room, they can have it on night and day if they want to. If the sound bugs you, go into audio options and turn the music down to where you hardly hear it. |

If they're close to giving you a nervous breakdown, you might want to consider taking a break from them then. But honestly, I've never really had that trouble with sim teens, when I control teens, I pretty much force them to do what I want them to do and if they disagree, too bad. Not that they can argue anyway. |

My stereos are always on 24/7, since I love listening to it and it feels too quiet without it when they're sleeping xD So I don't have a problem with that. I can't really think of ways teens annoy me, I guess when their aspiration is low and they throw tantrums and stuff. |

I don't buy MP3 players. I love teens too. I remember the first time I saw a Sims 2 teen. It was my daughter's sim (I hadn't started playing yet), and I happened to be walking by when this girl child aged to teen. I don't know why, but she just really got my attention. (Probably the sheer pleasure of seeing a new age group! Much as I loved the original Sims, ageless children were a huge annoyance.) She had the short and shaggy default hair a lot of teens grow up into. A lot of players get sick of that hair quickly, but I thought it was really cute then, and it's still one of my favorite female hairstyles to this day. Anyway, I can't think of anything about teens that annoys me.

Teens don't really annoy me, but they stay that age for way too long in the vanilla game. I don't get why they can't WooHoo, though. Seriously, teenagers are the horniest buggers on the planet. Worse than rabbits, even. |

You have mods for that. If teen sex had been included in the vanilla game, they would have had to have a different rating. And many people - self included, and I write for the age group, so am hardly a prude - prefer not to have teen sex in a game played for amusement. Since there's no difference in the game between a thirteen-year-old and an eighteen-year-old, its availability would raise a bunch of ethical and legal questions that an individual creator or player might be up for dealing with, but the corporation would have had too much hassle about. I like the fact that woohoo isn't available prior to the YA stage, as I think people go straight to the orgasm too soon and miss all the good stuff. Sex is like anything else - it takes practice to do it well, and you can get a lot of satisfaction out of the practice. But thread drift threatens here. |

I'm the other way, I couldn't care less about sim whoohoo, mine do it to breed and for aspiration points and that is all. My teen sims are lucky to get a first kiss let alone anything else. Which is why I have zero interest in ACR. I'd much rather watch a homeless sim collapse from heat stroke or a single mother battle to stay awake from looking after 2 toddlers in a hovel then have to watch booty calls and naked sims on the couch. Last thing I want is my kids asking "Why don't those sims have clothes on mummy?" |

I'm the same way. I like having my stereos on all the time, because I like the sims music. Every sim household has to have a stereo in my game. I usually have the pop station on. The university students listen to the college rock station. I also like it when my sims dance whether it's solo, smustle, hula or slap dance. I really like the slap dance. It makes me laugh, especially when there is a big group of sims doing it. I will admit that the teens are annoying with the mp3 players though. It's because I can't hear the music. It's like when you're on an airplane and the passenger sitting next to you has their headphones turned up all the way. You can tell they are listening to something, but you can't tell what it is. It just sounds like a really irritating noise to you. |

I like the teens mostly, I've never had an issue other than with one that was Mp3 obsessed, but even then, as soon as I gave him something else to do he would do that "yippee!" move & put the player away. As the past couple of challenges I've been doing involved lack of birth control (Apox & Mistress) I've ended up with 4 or 5 kids in a house. It's nice for the Mom to have a teen or two around who will drop everything to take care of siblings. A couple of the toddlers were taught the important skills by their older sibs, Not the parents. Interestingly enough, the only person who has ever really given me a true hassle about the Mp3 was a knowledge/family Elder! Her grandson gave it to her on her birthday & every time I turn around she's bebopping along with it in the orchard, on the sidewalk or in the washroom after a bath (glad that Maxis didn't code in an Elecrotrian death by listening to it in the tub, I'm sure she'll somtimes sneak it in there when I'm not watching). She maxed all skills & did raise 5 kids plus 3 of the grandkids (parents were involved in a tragic flu epedemic *my spelling is way off tonight, sorry*) while still toping her career & running a home business. I figure if something that simple makes her happy, why not let her... |

If the stereos bug you that much, take them out. And don't give MP3 players to your teens either. Personally, the sim music gets old quickly for me (it's the same damn songs over and over, and my stereos all default to Latin), and they're a bit too loud (I know, I can go into the sound settings and change that). I suppose I should throw my iTunes folder into the music folder just to have a change of pace, but I haven't gotten around to doing that yet. Also, the only electronic gadget I get for my sims from the kiosk is the cell phone. I made the mistake of getting one sim all three, and ALL HE DID was either listen to music or play video games despite the fact that he was an adult and had a rather large family to care for. |

All the stereos default to Latin, which is a pain, especially since I haven't gotten around to picking a converter and almost all my songs - certainly all the ones that go on the Latin channel - are ripped from CDs and in .wma format. (So I'm a late adopter, so sue me. I don't like having to buy new tech every three months.) But once you've changed it at home it'll stay on that station till a sim changes it again, so that's not a big deal. And I take care to have different stations in different households, and dumped all the mp3s I do have into the folder, so the fact that my sims almost never turn their stereos off isn't a big deal. |

I never give my sims Mp3 phones or gameboys or whatever its supposed to be Simply because thats all they end up doing if I do they only get a cell phone if their family can afford it. I do however always have a stereo in the house because its way too quiet when I play them if I don't but I've never had a problem with my teens being obsessed with it, they're either too busy with something else or they just simply don't care for it I guess :D |

I actually like how much teens enjoy their music and gadgets and stuff... It's like real life. I usually don't buy stereos either, but sometimes I'll put a little boombox in the teen's bedroom if I'm feeling generous. |

Why don't you turn the music down or off instead? I do that when I'm sick of the music. Stereos are good when you need to build body skill in a space that's a little too cramped to work out on the tv. |

I often don't buy stereos, unless someone rolls a want for it. You want to dance? Okay, go dance to your sis's piano practice. I usually don't buy TV's either. I rarely buy the kiosk electronics except the cell phones. Multiple phone lines, esp. in a dorm with ten or twelve sims, are a must. I'm also occasionally guilty of the not buying food--that's Seasons for you. |

Well, I have three teen sims in the same lot and they don't turn on the stereo all day. Maybe it's because I put the stereo in the backyard, and the teens don't usually go to the backyard. And if one of the teens turned it on, I won't hear the music It's just simple. Put the stereo in any place that you think the teens will not reach them very often :D |

Josepina you sound almost offended I don't want stereos in my game! I don't have one in RL either. I guess I just don't really think buying a stereo is important.
