Everyone gets bored with this game every once in a while, it's not hard to admit, I think. I myself end up going months at a time without actually playing, but I'll still download occasionally and won't have a problem with sorting and compressing even though I know I won't actually see the content ingame until I'm out of my rut. Currently, it's one of those ruts. So, as with the title... what keeps you playing? Do you play for the CC, the community, to find new things, or maybe just to test theories posted online? For me... I find it interesting to find some fictional characters from movies, books, etc and plop them in my game, see how they interact with all my original characters. The fact that you can do this, just throw in a character from your favorite series, is what keeps me interested. And if you can't find a decent enough sim of your favorite character, you can either create the CC yourself of request that someone else does - it's quite likely someone else shares your love for that character and would work with you on it. That's what I like about this game & this community. I don't know if there's really anything out there like sims, but plenty of games boast about endless character customization - but no other game has to offer the same that sims does - ANYONE can create, and ANYONE can download, and there's no stupid "you must have $65647 in some made up currency" to do so. I love that. /kind of ranty, I'm tired lol |

I have yet to be bored of my current hood, which is less than 2 years old. There are occasions when I dont want my sims to age/die of old age yet, but playing more of the other families will screw up my ages too much. So I take a slight break, just a few days, till I'm ready for them to die xD. But what keeps me playing is my connection with my hood's first sims. I enjoy the game because of genetics, so I'm always eager to see generations after generations. I play my hood slow enough where I have lots of pictures and memories of each life stages, therefore I care more about these sims than I ever did in the past (I think I played pretty quickly back then too). I only play one hood, since I don't really need another and I'm afraid a 2nd hood would take away some interest in my current one :O |

What keeps me playing? Well, for many years it was my six-year old hood. It is so involved and the storylines are so deep. I could not stay away long, I wanted to see what would next happen in the story! Presently what is keeping me interested is involvement in the sims 2 community through tumblr and livestreaming. That has really re-awakened my passion! But honestly, this person said it best: ![]() |

For me it's finding a brilliant bit of cc that changes game play, like the Simlogical stuff or gardening hacks. It makes me look again at my sims to see if they might like a career change or new hobby. It can make the interests actually mean something in my mind and sparks my imagination when it slows down. I just found the engine they can work and a hack to make the restorable car less profitable here so I now have something for my over active tom boy sim to turn into a job after school. |

When I get bored I usually start a new challenge. Some are quite short and I'm mad enough to have played Toddler mania at least 6 times now. Other times I build or download and sort cc. Sometimes I will play sims 3 or some other game for a few days, by then I am usually missing my families. |

The CC for this game has developed into a wide variety of stuff available so that one can literally build an entirely themed game with it. I've got my medieval hoods going full bore, and it's only gotten better, with sites dedicated to themed games. Plus the game play itself isn't that bad, with all of the mods and hacks available to make it more fun. It has come a long way from the start. It's actually fun now, not a pain to play it. It's now more enjoyable, and that's why I play it. |

I've been playing pretty much every day since I got the games, do sometimes get bored but find it much less fun the days I don't play. xD I'm the same as lazzybum, though, I love the genetics and watching my sim family through generations. |

I've been playing since University was the newest expansion on the store shelf. I can always find a new way to build some room in a house. I found new ways to use the moveobjects cheat. Recently i found ideas that never occured in seven years, a robot staffed business is one example. I've had Nightlife all this time and never made a big use of vampires, so it looks like a neighborhood based on I am Legend is the newest idea. I've also recreated television families from an American sitcoms list, and used book ideas like Lolita, Red Card, and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. |

I rotate neighbourhoods so when I get bored of my legacy family, I switch to my challenge hood. When that bores me, I move on to UnPleasantview. When I tire of that, it's uberhood time, where I only play premades and force myself to change families once a week. Then it's back to the legacy house. |

Personally for me, it's an addiction (lol) from downloading cc to seeing how far I can take one sim family and when I get bored with a neighborhood, I add a serial killer to the mix and get him or her to kill them off in unique ways.. |

My sims. I get attached to my little pixel people and so want to continue playing them to see how their lives progress. How will Debra and Ralph deal with trying to raise ten children? How can Stephanie, a newly-orphaned teen cope with school and looking after her (also-orphaned) younger siblings? Will Suzanne ever get together enough money to buy a house of her own instead of renting a tiny apartment on the bad side of town? If I'm interested in my starter sims, I'm usually interested in their children and thus want to see how their lives continue on (if I get bored with a sim, I usually move them in with family I find more interesting and let them live out their days not needing to work and helping with their nieces/newphews/occasionally cousins). I also like tracking genetics and see what gets passed on and what doesn't. I've had more than a couple of times when a gene has remained hidden for three or four generations before popping up again unexpectedly. Sometimes I remember where a gene came from, other times I need to check the family trees to find the mystery gene. |

I'm engaged with my sims as characters, and my short rotations means that there's always something coming up that I want to see - a baby to be born, a connection to be made, a feud to progress, a conflict to resolve. Happiness is having something to look forward to. On days when print won't sit still and work is overwhelmingly difficult, this game is a lifesaver. The only problem arises when I need to detach and the habit has gotten entrenched. |

The free custom content is a big plus. I felt rather bad when I read that at least for a time, making meshes for CC in Sims 3 was a problem (don't know if that was fixed now .... this was as of about a year or so after the base game came out). Just when I think that Sims 2 creators have taken things as far as they can go for someone who has only up to Seasons .... something changes ... be it a new hack, an interesting house, a new skill-building mod, a new template. This is also one problem with the console versions of Sims 1 and Sims 3, and probably Sims 2. (I never had a Wii, X-Box or Playstation version of the game.) You can't add much content to the base game Sims 3 on a console, for instance. You are stuck with EA's choices. Period. As far as I'm concerned, EA owes a great deal of thanks to free content creators. They helped make Sims 2 the huge success it became, despite glitches and Securom v, 7. I used to play a neighborhood for years. Now I'm resetting them after three years or so because I find that they become overplayed to me, and a lot of the consequences of stupid things I might have done that can cause problems (or EA has done, but let's face it, I'm too often the culprit) start to appear around this point. When I reset a new neighborhood, it's rather exciting. By then, I have often added new templates, packaged new lots, etc. The newness of a neighborhood can be as appealing as the comfort of a familiar one. |

Each of my neighborhoods has a different theme. I never got on with Belladonna Cove because, so far as I could see, it was all about class differences - Armand de Bateau in his penthouse flat high on the hill, and his supposedly fortune-hunting ex-wife down in her scruffy, cramped trailer. That theme had a nasty flavour, whereas the bucolic seasonal theme of Riverblossom Hills was very comfortable to me. Strangetown was all about aliens. Veronaville was about feuding clans. Then I had a neighborhood called Mount Olympos, where the gods and goddesses drank elixir of life, but the humans could not. Another neighborhood, The Kingdom, had a court with king, queen and six courtiers, all romance sims. The court was an interesting hotbed of intrigue. The peasants all had identical cottages, more worthwhile lives, and more ambitions. I had been downloading some interesting lots from here, so I opened up a new neighborhood to try them out - Salinas. ('Looking for the home I hope she'll find ...') Since the theme was architecture I did not make my sims earn their homes; I just gave them the money for them. It felt like cheating, but it meant I could play castles and mansions and overflowing gardens. Now and then I go back. I've just planted an asylum in Pleasantview, and I'm glad to see my old friends walk by. Each neighborhood has something new to offer. That keeps the game young for me. |

I agree with Mootilda. There really is a lot to do. There are also many things I have never done since I started playing. I think it was October of 2008 when I started playing the pc version of sims 2. After all that time, I have never had a werewolf in my game and now I want one. Another reason I like to play is because it's a good escape from reality and lately I need that. I can actually control things in the sims world. If things go wrong, I can exit without saving. I wish I could do that in reality. |

For me it's the added CC I keep getting/using. Cars, clothes, meshes, recolors, body shapes, custom items, naughty bits...... For me lately it's been building. I like to build lots with basement garages and smaller houses. Better back yards with better greenhouse/pool areas. Smaller overall structures but with more floors. Kind of like what living in the 5 Borough's is like. Also I'm teaching my G/F on playing the sims, so it's a lot of basics I'm explaining, Why do they need to use the bathroom? Why is their Social line so low? Why can't they call a stylist over to the house? Why is there no dog walker? Why do they automatically sleep after woo-hoo? Yup this is why I play now..... |

For me, it's challenges - first it was the Apocalypse and now it's my Build a City Challenge. In general though, that's what's so great about the game... after years, there seems to be no end to how you can customize it to suit your tastes and playstyle. |

Question : What keep you playing ? The honest answer for me is just "Plain Old addiction" It's like being on a merry- go - around once you ride it, it can be hard to get off. The Sims can be "Very Addicting" once you get into your families, your custom neigborhoods, or what going on with Sims from different families that may or may not get along, the birth of new off springs. These things keep me addicted along with Mods, custom clothes, Body shop where you can create new Sims etc, one thing about Sims 2 is the player can have more control as to what you want to happen or not. In a sense we are like the Sims "gods" with our player control over the Sims. It's like do as I say not as you want, but I like the fact that the Sims do have their own free will, we can be there to just guide them along. So those are a few points that keep me playing I do take a break now and then. The longest I ever went not the playing my Sims was about 9 months only because my computer was no longer working, so I started saving for a better computer. Even during that period I was coming here to the community everyday.

What keeps me playing? I guess its simple. I make new story lines, make new drama. And make sometimes my Sims lives a living hell. Lol. Kidding about the last part. For instance, I get this random idea in my head. I think: "I NEED TO DO THAT!" And usually I do. So, I don't really get bored. The only time I get bored is when I am playing College. But its pretty easy to be the "Big Girl" on Campus
